Application Integration Specialist - Office of the Registrar University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign The University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign has an opening in the Office of the Registrar for an Application Integration Specialist. The Application Integration Specialist will design, develop, maintain, audit, and test data integrations while facilitating data integration needs for the Office of the Registrar in support of campus-wide workflow processes to several campus supported applications. In addition, the Application Integration Specialist will develop, maintain, and schedule outgoing communications and some data reports. Duties & Responsibilities -

  • Design, develop, maintain, audit, and test data integrations as directed to facilitate existing Enrollment Management (EM) operations. Most development work focuses on integrations with the University's ERP (Banner), EM operational systems, reporting repositories, and dynamic workflow systems.
  • Develop, maintain, and schedule reports of student data for EM, colleges and departments, and other external campus entities.
  • Critically evaluate and propose appropriate security levels for workflow applications that meet university standards and user needs.
  • Support the loading and integration of external data files into the ERP, CRM and EM operational systems.
  • Test vended solutions, internal applications, and procedures to improve data and process integrity, improve features and performance, and minimize bugs and glitches. When unable to use vended solutions, collaborate with EM developers to reach agreed balance between usability and performance needs.
  • Assist with providing ad hoc reports as needed for EM, colleges and departments, and other external campus entities.
  • Provide end-user support for data and reporting.
  • Assist with creation and maintenance of detailed instructions, including presenting to senior Registrar staff, stakeholders, and new users for new and existing applications. Document and communicate issues that arise after deployment to the appropriate staff for resolution.
  • Assist with end user training.
Required Qualifications -
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Two (2) years of work experience in IT-related functions such as hardware/software support, programming, network design, network engineering, IT systems integration, or closely related field.
    • College coursework which includes Information Technology (IT), IT Management, Programming, IT systems, or a closely related discipline may be substituted as follows:
      • 30 semester hours equals one year
      • Associate's Degree (60 semester hours) equals eighteen (18) months
      • 90 semester hours equals two years
      • Bachelor's Degree (120 semester hours) equals three years.
  • Demonstrated experience with SQL software.
Preferred Qualifications -
  • Bachelor's degree in Information Systems or a related field.
  • At least two years of progressively more responsible work experience in a data analysis, software development, or similar technical role OR a role focused on data usage and functionality with a university Student Information System.
  • Extensive experience in developing, maintaining, and troubleshooting SQL queries and
    stored procedures, particularly with tools like SSMS.
  • Demonstrated experience with Excel.
  • Experience with programming languages such as Python for scripting and automation tasks.
  • Experience with MS SQL server Integration Services (SSIS).
  • Experience with data visualization and dashboard tools like Power BI.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities -
  • Knowledge of University data sources and systems (EDW, REPTPROD, etc.).
  • Competence in Office 365.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Innovative problem-solving ability.
  • Demonstrated ability in effective communication and collaborating in a high-performance team environment, including oral, written, and active listening.
  • Commitment to customer service and user experience.
  • Ability to collaborate positively and effectively with diverse work groups.
  • Willing to work additional or irregular hours as needed.
  • Knowledge of industry wide technology trends and best practices.
Appointment Information
This is a 100% full-time Civil Service 5031 - Information Technology Technical Associate position. The expected start date is as soon as possible after the close of the search. The budgeted salary range for this position is $50,000-$60,000 annually. Salary is competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience, while also considering internal equity.
