Job Summary/Basic Function:
The Assistant Director of Sports Performance Coach will assist the Assistant Athletic Director of Sports Performance, Health & Wellness, in the execution and operation of the Olympic Sports Performance Department. The Assistant Director of Sports Performance Coach will also assist in the development, instruction, and supervision of designated individual and team sports performance programs.

Level Scope:
Entry-level professional with limited or no prior experience to contribute to a project or work team. Incumbent learns to use professional concepts to resolve problems of limited scope and complexity under close supervision while achieving day-to-day objectives. Works on developmental assignments that are initially routine in nature, requiring limited judgment and decision-making. This level is typically focused on self-development. Requires theoretical knowledge through specific education and training.
Essential Functions:
• Act as the primary Sports Performance Coach for assigned Olympic Sports programs, including Women's Volleyball, Women's Gymnastics, and Women's Golf.
• Critique and supervise student-athletes in the use of free-weight, equipment-based, and body-weight resistive exercise. Knowledge and experience in doing so is vital. If student-athletes are allowed to continue using improper technique, then injury resulting in hospitalization, surgery and even death are potential consequences.
• Educate student-athletes on proper lifting techniques of free weights and machine lifting. Several types of lifts are required. Every type of lift requires a different skill development as different muscles and/or angles of lifting are being focused on. Improper technique could cause major structural and muscular damage.
• Develop a strength and conditioning program that is tailored to the demands of designated sport/s along with individual constraints that each student-athlete faces.
• Develop, monitor, and instruct speed, agility, and conditioning programs for each sport. Each sport will have specific criteria needed depending upon the demands of the sport at the time of year, in comparison to their playing season.
• Track student-athlete progress on the computer, develop a file system, and adjust workouts depending upon the gains of each individual and the season of lifting that the student-athlete is in. Special attention must be given to developing individual and team goals in the off-season, during the season, post-season, and pre-season.
• Student-athletes must be carefully monitored during workouts for signs of dehydration, excessive fatigue, and overstepping proven physical, mental, and emotional limitations of the student-athlete.
• Must establish and maintain working relationships with all sport staff and support staff within the Athletic Department. Also, must maintain and cultivate good working relationships with nutritional supplement vendors.
• Collaborate with Boise State Sports Medicine on care and return-to-play programs for assigned teams.
• Create and supervise our Boise State Olympic Sport Performance Internship Curriculum.
• Coordinate and collaborate with the Assistant Athletic Director of Olympic Sports Performance on facility and scheduling.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
• Experience and knowledge of NCAA and conference rules and regulations regarding compliance issues.
• Experience with instruction of exercise technique, training of student-athletes and personnel, record management, monitoring all programs, emergency procedures and number of participants within the facility (room capacity).
• Ability to educate and supervise student-athletes in the use of weight training equipment and lifting techniques.
• Expected to know/interpret applicable Boise State, State Board of Education, Conference Rules and the NCAA Rules Manual. These regulations are highly technical and specialized to strength and conditioning
• Learn and understand the Assistant Athletic Director, Sports Performance, Health & Wellness' philosophy, to develop and document specific sports performance programs for intercollegiate student-athletes, and schedule facility for use.
• Candidates must also be individuals of high character, adaptable to new situations and environments, open-minded to various backgrounds and populations, exceptional communicators and intrinsically motivated.
• Ability to work nights and weekends as needed.
Minimum Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree.
• One (1) to two (2) years of experience working at the collegiate level in sports performance.
• Certification from the Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Coaches Association (CSCCA).
• CPR and First Aid Certifications (must be completed within one month of hire).
Preferred Qualifications:
• Master's Degree in Human Performance or Related Field.
• One (1)+ years of experience working with Women's Volleyball at the Division 1 Level.
• One (1)+ years of experience coordinating weight room interns at the Division 1 Level.
• Two (2)+ years of experience working in a full-time sports performance coaching position.
Salary and Benefits:
Salary is $54,000/yr. Boise State University provides a best-in-class benefits package, including (but not limited to):
