Associate Software Engineer
Hypertherm Associates is looking for an Associate Software Engineer to contribute to Innovation in Intelligent Automation for Waterjet Cutting Systems.
Join our dynamic OMAX team in Kent, Washington as an Associate Software Engineer! In this role, you will help develop and enhance the software that powers our industry-leading waterjet cutting systems. You'll work alongside experienced engineers on projects involving, motion control, I/O systems, and user interface development-gaining hands-on experience while contributing to meaningful, real-world products.

As an Associate Software Engineer, you will:
- Assist in designing, developing, and maintaining software for waterjet cutting systems, focusing on performance, reliability, and scalability
- Work with team leads and engineers to integrate AI-powered tools into our development workflows and software to improve system performance
- Collaborate with hardware, firmware, and UI/UX teams to contribute to end-to-end feature development and intuitive user experiences
- Participate in code reviews, planning discussions, and the overall software development lifecycle
- Stay curious and engaged with emerging technologies to bring fresh ideas to the team
Who you are and the experience you bring:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field
- Strong understanding of object-oriented programming principles
- Experience or coursework in at least one programming language such as C#, C++, or Python
- Solid problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Ability to communicate and collaborate effectively in a team environment
Preferred experience that differentiates you:
- Familiarity with industrial automation, robotics, or manufacturing systems
- Interest or experience in waterjet cutting technology or related machinery
- Exposure to modern UI/UX development tools or frameworks
- Participation in open-source projects or technical communities
- Advanced coursework or research in relevant areas

This is the base pay range that an applicant can expect to make upon hire. Pay within this range will vary based upon relevant experience, skills, and education among other factors.
