Department purpose
Our sanctions and international trade team helps organizations across sectors navigate the legal and regulatory challenges and opportunities of doing business in a globalized economy. Our market-leading team provides integrated, cross-jurisdictional advice and is well versed in the most complex and sensitive issues arising in the market. Our unique insight on these issues repeatedly proves invaluable to our clients. We have an integrated, global team of lawyers who work together daily on a wide variety of complex, cross-border matters. We are best known for providing integrated cross-jurisdictional trade advice on complex matters involving overlapping and often conflicting requirements and prohibitions.
Role purpose
A&O Shearman seeks an accomplished, experienced associate to join its sanctions practice. Ideal candidates will be in Washington, DC or in our New York office with 3-6 years of robust experience with respect to matters involving U.S. economic sanctions and export controls. Qualified candidates will receive immediate client exposure and will see great responsibility and join a team dedicated to training and development. Successful candidates will have excellent drafting and analytical skills, accurate and strong attention to detail, high level of organization, strong verbal and interpersonal skills, and an ability to manage multiple projects and people.
