Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas is looking to add to our Chief of Staff leadership team and has an opportunity for a Chief Development Officer. This position will initiate and coordinate the enterprise strategy-regarding the mission, vision, and strategy of the company. Serving as a strategic advisor to the CoS, this role is directly responsible for leading near- and long-term strategic planning and development for Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas. The Chief Development Officer is a forward-thinking, collaborative, and adaptive leader who has a strong aptitude for delivering valuable, dependable, and proactive insights about social, technological, economic, and political developments and consequences for the company now and in the future.

What you'll do
- Serve as strategic advisor and partner to the CoS.
- Lead and execute the organization's strategic planning processes and activities.
- Build, organize, and maintain the company's strategic planning processes and programs.
- Utilize decision making models for framing strategic decisions, trade-offs, and analysis of key business decisions, problems, and opportunities.
- Utilize strategic frameworks and models (e.g., value chain analysis, strategy canvas, etc.) for strategic positioning, planning, and development.
- Manage and report on the organization's strategic intelligence, continually monitor and evaluate the company's position and competitor trends in the ever-evolving health payer landscape.
- Orient advanced analytics, intelligence teams, and reporting efforts towards aiding data-driven business decision-making and process automation.
- Oversee quantitative and qualitative analysis on business problems and core strategic initiatives and generate action-oriented insights and recommendations.
What you need
- Master's degree within a discipline of analytical aptitude or MBA is required.
- Five years of professional working experience with a focus on structuring, leading, and managing cross-functional teams and complex projects.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
- Visionary leadership and a proven track record of creating and managing change and the delivery of impactful and relevant strategy campaigns.
- Experience in a senior leadership role with an outstanding record of facilitating and influencing diverse stakeholders around a common purpose and agenda.
- Develop and coordinate strategic vision, planning processes, and communication.
- Consult with executive leadership, senior leadership, and subject matter experts to coordinate and develop enterprise goals and strategies in alignment with organizational objectives, values, and culture.
- Must possess strong leadership qualities of attracting, developing, and mentoring top talent and staff.
- Demonstrated ability of using advanced analytics to translate research and data to produce key insights that create value and improve business processes, decisions, and performance.
- Experience in utilizing decision-making frameworks and strategic frameworks (i.e., PrOACT, VRIO, PESTLE, etc.) to aid in evaluating trade-offs and consequences for decision-making and forming recommendations.
- A proven track record of working in a dynamic environment, providing oversight, and directly influence change.
- Exceptional presentation design, communication, and delivery to an array of audiences (i.e., Board, Steering Committee, Strategy Council, Executive Leadership, Senior Leadership, etc.).
- Effective at prioritizing competing initiatives and translating strategic priorities into individual/team initiatives and manage expectations.
- Ability to analyze complex, sometimes incomplete, datasets.
