The Chief Supply Officer (CSO) is responsible for the long- and short-term strategies, planning, procedures, processes, and operations for Alliant Energy's sourcing, supply chain, and facilities activities. This role owns sourcing strategy, supplier performance, cost and risk management, and the development of a high-performing procurement, inventory, and facilities management organization.

This position directs the development of talent within the Supply Chain Management and Facilities organizations and develops and implements guiding principles, goals, budget, action plans, and performance measurements required to ensure that the Supply Chain Management and Facilities organization focusing on supplier performance, effective commodity management, and cost objectives.

What you will do

  • Serves as a strategic advisor to the executive leadership team on supply risk, cost structure, commodity trends, supplier capacity, market conditions, sourcing decisions, and facilities investment and maintenance plans.
  • Develops and executes an enterprise-wide procurement, sourcing, and facilities strategy aligned with the company's strategic plan, operational objectives, growth trajectory, and multi-site utility footprint.
  • Directs the infrastructure and services needed to support the delivery, storage, and transportation of materials for the operations of the company.
  • Oversees inventory strategies including safety stock policies, lead-time reduction efforts, and material availability planning to support on-time project execution.
  • Aligns material and supplier roadmaps with engineering and operations to ensure technical specifications, qualification testing, and product lifecycle considerations are incorporated into sourcing strategy.
  • Recommends and directs capital expenditure plans and on-going operations and maintenance plans for company owned and leased facilities.
  • Oversees the contract administration activities and assists in development of staffing and contracting for company's multi-billion-dollar construction initiatives, including EPC contracts.
  • Oversees facilities operations and maintenance services, including janitorial, vegetation management, pest control, snow removal, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, elevator, waste management, roads and grounds, and general maintenance services.
  • Originates technology and analytics strategies to drive savings and continuous improvement in the Supply Chain Management and Facilities organization and with business unit partners, including automation, advanced analytics, and procurement system optimization.
  • Sets performance standards, KPIs, and metrics that drive excellence across sourcing, purchasing, supplier management, materials strategy and facilities management.
  • Utilizes spend analytics, market intelligence, and supplier benchmarking to identify savings opportunities and operational improvements across commodities.
  • Establishes and maintains effective relationships with senior management, work associates, and external professional organizations to ensure corporate strategies and objectives are achieved.
  • Collaborates with internal and external auditing functions to ensure conformance with company policies and procedures as they pertain to sourcing and supply chain activities.
  • Serves as Logistics Section Chief for the Crisis Management Team.
  • Performs all leadership duties, including hiring and rewarding talent, fostering an inclusive and safe workplace, partnering with employees to set clear goals and expectations, providing timely and specific feedback on performance, developing improvement plans to address performance gaps, identifying opportunities for growth and development, embracing and modeling a mindset of lifelong learning, ensuring employees report to work fit for duty, adhering to our Code of Conduct, and modeling Alliant Energy's Core Values at all times.
  • Engages in other duties as needed that support Alliant Energy's Values and helps deliver on our Purpose to serve customers and build stronger communities.

Education Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree - Supply Chain, Engineering, Operations, Business, or related field. | Required
  • Master's Degree, Juris Doctorate, or Advanced Degree. | Preferred

Required Experience
  • Minimum 10-years of supply chain, procurement, sourcing, or related leadership experience. | Required

Preferred Experience
  • Experience in power and utilities sector or related field. | Preferred

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Proven success leading supply chain organizations through rapid growth and complexity.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and manage enterprise supplier relationships and long-term agreements.
  • Ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, high-growth environment with significant complexity and competing priorities.
