The Co-Occurring Disorder Specialist provides integrated, person-centered care to individuals experiencing both mental health and substance use challenges within our Community Psychiatric Rehabilitation Center (I-CPRC) program. This role focuses on building trusting relationships, delivering evidence-based interventions, and empowering individuals to achieve lasting recovery and improved quality of life.

Key Responsibilities
- Deliver integrated co-occurring disorder services aligned with individualized treatment and wellness plans
- Conduct comprehensive assessments addressing both mental health and substance use needs
- Utilize motivational interviewing, outreach, and engagement strategies to support individuals at all stages of change
- Provide individual counseling and facilitate/co-facilitate co-occurring disorder groups
- Implement evidence-based practices, including cognitive behavioral strategies and relapse prevention
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to support whole-person care
- Model co-occurring treatment approaches and support team skill development through consultation and cross-training
- Maintain accurate, timely clinical documentation in compliance with regulatory standards
- Participate in team meetings, treatment planning, and ongoing clinical supervision
- Provide community-based services, including transportation support as needed
Education, Skills, Knowledge and Expertise • High School/GED required
• Bachelor's degree required unless otherwise approved by DMH
WORK EXPERIENCE/TRAINING/ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
• At least one (1) year of training or supervised experience in substance use treatment is required*
o (*If less than one year of experience, must be actively acquiring 24 hours of training in COD content and receiving supervision from experiences co-occurring staff.)
• A valid, unrestricted driver's license and agency established minimum automobile coverage required
LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION:
• Qualified Addiction Professional credential required (CADC, CRADC, CRAADC, CCDP or CCJP MO)
