About the Position

The Deputy Program Manager supports the Program Manager in the execution, management, and growth of programs and associated contracts. This role helps ensure successful delivery of program objectives while supporting client relationships, internal coordination, and future business development efforts.

The DPM works closely with the Program Manager, Client Account Managers (CAMs), project managers, and technical leads to align resources, manage risk, and ensure compliance with quality, cost, and schedule requirements. The Deputy Program Manager may also support pursuit strategy and proposal development and step in to backfill project management responsibilities as needed.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Support the Program Manager in planning, executing, and managing programs and task orders.
  • Assist in determining resource requirements and execution strategies to support client programs.
  • Monitor project performance to ensure adherence to scope, schedule, budget, and quality standards.
  • Support or lead negotiations of fee proposals, scopes of work, and contract modifications as required.
  • Facilitate communication between internal teams and clients to ensure alignment and transparency.
  • Coordinate with CAMs and business development teams to identify and support new opportunities.
  • Contribute to proposal development, including strategy, staffing plans, and technical input.
  • Assist in developing and implementing program management tools, processes, and best practices.
  • Capture and share lessons learned across programs to drive continuous improvement.
  • Mentor and support project managers and team members to promote professional growth and team effectiveness.
  • Deliver oral and written presentations to internal leadership and external clients.
  • May serve as Project Manager on select projects or assist in resolving technical, contractual, or performance-related issues.
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships to support repeat business.
  • Adhere to company policies, procedures, and quality standards.
  • Perform other duties as assigned based on program and business needs.

Minimum Requirements
  • Demonstrated experience managing or supporting complex, multidisciplinary programs.
  • History of managing multiple projects and project teams simultaneously.
  • Ability to provide high-level technical and program oversight.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Willingness to mentor staff and support team development.
  • Experience supporting business development and proposal efforts.
  • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.
  • Self-motivated with strong attention to detail and ability to manage competing priorities.
  • Commitment to producing high-quality work and continuous professional growth.
