Job Summary

As an Engineering Technician - Mechanical at BPMI, you will work under limited supervision to perform semi-complex technical functions to support company operations in areas including but not limited to computer-aided design, drafting, rapid prototyping, and general support of the design, development, testing, and maintenance of mechanical and electro-mechanical equipment.

Essential Duties:

  • Prepare equipment models using computer-aided design software.
  • Provide product definitions via 2D and 3D drawings.
  • Provide sketches to support equipment assembly and maintenance procedures.
  • Provide advice to engineers on product definition and design drawings.
  • Assist structural analysts in development of 3D models for structural/thermal/hydraulic analysis.
  • Develop and fabricate 3D rapid prototype models using 3D printers.
  • Assess functionality, interference, and design improvements for mechanical and electro-mechanical equipment and tooling.
  • Troubleshoot problems and perform routine maintenance on 3D printers and various fabrication, test, and diagnostic hardware; maintain records, schedules and spare parts inventory for printers and hardware.
  • Perform complex PC/workstation support functions, such as upgrading batch programs to meet user's needs.
  • Develop methods and systems for the control of equipment and/or test data within a project.
  • Provide logistical services for the development, procurement, and field maintenance of components and/or equipment.
  • Perform dimensional/stack-up analysis to ensure component/equipment form, fit,and function.
  • Provide assistance and training to other personnel on the use of hardware and software.

Minimum Job Requirements:

  • Associate's degree in mechanical or electrical engineering or computer-aided design or equivalent from an accredited college or university.
  • A minimum of two (2) years of relevant experience.
  • Experience in computer-aided design software and drafting practices.
  • Six (6) or more years of completed education and/or relevant experience may be considered to satisfy educational and years of experience requirements.
  • Requires a security clearance; however, all qualified candidates will be considered regardless of their current clearance status. The ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy security clearance is required.
