THE OPPORTUNITY: Estimating Manager

PAY RANGE:

$140-180k YEAR FOR ESTIMATING MANAGER

PAYROLL CLASSIFICATION:

• This position is a Salaried Exempt position (Executive)

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

This is a position for a candidate experienced as a self-perform mechanical and plumbing trades estimator on complex industrial, institutional and health care projects. Estimates on similar type projects is required.

PREREQUISITES:

• 10 years' experience in combination of the following.
• Mechanical project management
• 4-year degree in Mechanical Engineering or Construction Management
• Worked as a Mechanical Estimator
• Displays leadership capabilities
• A good understanding of Bell policies and procedures

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

• Prior completion of mechanical and plumbing estimates with project size exceeding $25 million
• Demonstrated experience in estimating for both, hard-bid and negotiated projects.
• Demonstrated experience developing accurate estimates from schematic design documents.
• Experience in leading a team, providing direction, and determining priorities to achieve a complete and final estimate.
• Experience in writing subcontractor scopes, negotiating pricing and issuing subcontracts.

EXPERIENCE:

• Candidates must demonstrate a past work history and their desire for a career in construction.
• Experience in project cost controls and Job cost accounting, contracts, scopes of work, material take offs and pricing, bonding and insurances, licensing and labor burdens.

DUTIES:

• Maintain the ethics and professionalism of The Bell Company in the execution of the duties and responsibilities of the position.
• Supervise and coordinate all estimating activities in the Estimating Department.
• Evaluation and training of Rochester Estimating staff
• Review and sign all department time and pre-approve all Over Time
• Responsible for the preparation and accuracy of all bid forms and specific RFP requirements
• Conduct Kick Off Meeting with all Lead Estimators to provide concise direction for a project estimate.
• Organize bid team requirements and responsibilities; coordinate efforts with Regional offices
• Establish project wage rates for the estimate.
• Establish the initial General Conditions for the bid
• Evaluate the project requirements for MBE/WBE, EEO, licenses, insurance, bonding, surety, QA/QC and Safety. Assign responsibilities for completion and assure responses are timely for the bidding schedule.
• Secure and assist in the development of the following information from the Project Executive:
• Organizational Chart
• Verify licensing requirements
• Construction Plan
• Project schedule input
• Organize and assign on-site pre-bid walkthrough and responsibilities.
• Review subcontractor scope sheets for bid.
• Prepare bid room for bid day activities.
• Organize bid runners, if required.
• Close out of Main Recap on bid day.
• Responsible for turnover of estimating information to the project team and Finance Department for set up of project cost control
• Track all projects of interest and provide Bid Calendar input on a weekly basis.
• Report on and track identified projects in Salesforce.
• Supplement recruiting, interviewing and evaluating of Estimator candidates, as needed.

• Performing and assigning department duties to assure all deadlines are met.
