Description
The maintenance technician position is responsible for performing support for the maintenance related activities and needs for the facility buildings and grounds. Facilities must be maintained with aesthetic and high-quality standards.
Job Knowledge and Tasks
- Provides general and detailed maintenance (either with direct or indirect supervision), including patching, painting, hardware repairs and other repair/replacement work as required for buildings, structures and utilities.
- Performs routine facility and equipment maintenance.
- Performs routine inspections and preventive maintenance inspections of assigned buildings, spaces, air handling, HVAC, waste and recycling compactors and utilities.
- Specific functions include, but are not limited to maintenance, painting, installations, repairs of floors, windows, carpet, walls, flooring, windows, restrooms, carpentry, plumbing, HVAC, plumbing, low voltage electrical, furniture, fixtures and other building and/or structure related maintenance.
- Oversees and performs the duties associated with events, including executing the site preparation, set-up plan in a timely manner, break-downs are completed on schedule with spaces returned to normal state after the event.
- Complete accurate and timely documentation of maintenance records, work orders and task records.
- Accurately input and record PM (planned and unplanned activities into SAP or other MIS/ERP system.
- Comply with all Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's).
- Comply with federal, state and local safety regulations, specific to OSHA and EPA requirements for hazardous materials usage, storage and disposal.
- Follow SQF and Company GMP and 5S guidelines to produce a safe and quality product when working in manufacturing and production areas.
- Ensure work tools, supplies, materials and equipment are organized and inventoried.
- Adhere to the Saputo code of ethics and actively apply the Saputo values.
- Work together professionally in a team environment with coworkers and other department personnel.
- Other duties as required by management.
Job requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- 3 year(s) demonstrated carpentry and/or building construction maintenance experience required.
- Ability to utilize computer-based maintenance planning/PM ERP platforms, SAP a plus.
- Ability to trouble-shoot, repair and service electrical, plumbing, HVAC equipment and utilities.
- 2 years' experience with painting, sheetrock, flooring installation and repair.
- Must have excellent craftmanship and quality of work.
- Self-motivated, detail-oriented and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Must be able to balance work in order of priority and meet deadlines.
- Ability to work any shift, including overtime and weekends.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated work history.
Physical Demands. The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job in a food manufacturing environment. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to walk; sit; use hands and fingers, handle, feel, type; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, or crawl; visual acuity; talk or hear and taste or smell in a wet, cold and/or humid environment; must be able to Climb stairs, work at heights, elevated platforms and use material lift and handling equipment; must have the ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds unassisted. Lift up to 50 pounds with assistance throughout shift.
Work Environment. The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job in a food manufacturing environment. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is exposed to moving mechanical parts; hazardous or caustic chemicals and exposure to electrical equipment/systems. The noise level in the work environment is moderate and hearing protection is required in most areas of the facility. The use of a respiratory protection, aerial assist equipment, bump cap and eye protection is required.
