The Building Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for completing plant and office facilities maintenance assignments as scheduled. Must have the ability to troubleshoot basic mechanical and electrical, make building repairs and assist maintenance personnel when and where needed. Job requires plant and office preventive maintenance (PM) to be performed as scheduled.

Job Summary:

• Performs repair and preventive maintenance on facilities including but not limited to: carpentry, electrical, painting, dry walling, plumbing, HVAC, door hardware, etc.
  
• Repairs electrical switches, outlets, lighting systems and fixtures
  
• Performs advanced level plumbing work including the installation, repair and replacement of plumbing fixtures including sinks, toilets, faucets, water heaters and pipes; clears obstructions from drains, water and sewer lines
  
• Performs basic carpentry work
  
• Inspects building facilities to identity building maintenance needs; completes inspection and preventive maintenance reports and performs PM as required
  
• Installs, maintains and repairs a variety of floor coverings such as brick, carpeting and tile
  
• Operates, maintains and repairs a variety of mechanical tools and equipment such as power saws, power sanders, drills, air compressors, paint sprayers, generators, power washers, and various hand tools
  
• Reads and interprets sketches, diagrams, and blueprints
  
• Observes and practices all rules of safety
  
• Ensures that all food safety regulations, quality and safety requirements are followed
  
• Actively supports Saputo Values and complies with the Saputo Code of Ethics
  
• Performs other duties as assigned
  

Job Requirements:

• Minimum of two years related experience, preferably in a production environment
  
• Basic knowledge of HVAC, plumbing and electrical systems
  
• Experience using hand and electrical tools
  
• Ability to read technical manuals and drawings
  
• Self-motivated with an ability to handle multiple tasks and follow instructions
  
• Flexibility to work weekends, different shifts, and overtime
  

Physical Requirements:

• Must be able to work in all types of weather, including heat and cold
  
• Will work with and around equipment 100% of shift
  
• Must be able to reach, stretch, bend, kneel and stoop on a frequent and repeated basis throughout the shift
  
• Must be able to climb ladders and work at heights
  
• Must have hand strength and dexterity to grip and operate a variety of hand tools
  
• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds above the waist and carry heavy objects
  
• Must be able to stand and walk on hard surfaces throughout the shift
  

Starting Pay Range depending on experience: $25.41 - $35.49 per hour.
