General Maintenance Technician - Low Voltage Specialist

Position Description:

We are seeking a skilled General Maintenance Technician with low-voltage electrical knowledge to support operations and maintenance across federal facilities in Yuma and San Luis. This role combines general building maintenance with specialized support for low-voltage systems, ensuring safe, reliable facility operations.

Duties and Responsibilities:

General Building Maintenance

Perform facility upkeep, including:

- Replacing ceiling tiles, bulbs, air filters

- Minor drywall repair, painting, door hardware adjustments

- Light plumbing repairs (unclog drains, replace faucets)

• Complete preventive maintenance tasks per schedule.

• Conduct daily building walkthroughs and report deficiencies.

Low-Voltage Electrical Support

Troubleshoot, repair, and support:

- Low-voltage circuits (12V-48V)

- Lighting control systems

- Sensor wiring, thermostats, relays, and control boards

- Access control equipment and security door hardware (basic support)

- Communication lines, low-voltage cabling, junction boxes

• Assist electricians and HVAC technicians with control wiring tasks.

• Perform meter readings, continuity checks, and basic diagnostics.

• Identify wiring issues, loose connections, or faulty components.

Vendor & Trade Support

• Escort and assist specialized contractors (electrical, fire alarm, IT, HVAC).

• Provide initial troubleshooting before escalation.

• Ensure contractors follow federal facility safety requirements.

Safety & Documentation

• Complete work orders, PM checklists, and logs accurately.

• Follow OSHA and federal facility safety rules.

• Maintain tools and work areas in safe working condition.

Required Qualifications

• 2-4 years experience in general maintenance or multi-trade role.

• Working knowledge of low-voltage electrical systems (12V-48V).

• Ability to read simple wiring diagrams and schematics.

• Experience using multimeters and basic electrical diagnostic tools.

• Ability to lift 50 lbs and work on rooftops, mechanical rooms, and ladders.

• Valid driver's license with satisfactory driving record.

• Ability to pass a federal background check (HSPD-12).

• Strong reliability, communication skills, and customer service mindset.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in federal, industrial, or commercial facilities.

Knowledge of:

- BAS/BMS wiring (low-voltage controls)

- Access control or security hardware

- Lighting control panels

- Familiarity with CMMS/NCMMS systems.

- OSHA 10 certification.

- Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus.
