Job Summary
Indiana University South Bend is seeking an energetic, results-driven HR Professional to serve as a strategic business partner, aligning HR practices to support the campus's strategic goals.
Departmental-Specific Responsibilities
- Serves as a trusted strategic partner to assigned academic and administrative units, providing guidance on workforce planning, employee relations, talent management, and organizational effectiveness.
- Builds strong relationships with campus leaders, faculty, and staff to understand operational goals, workforce challenges, and emerging needs.
- Partners with departments to develop and execute recruiting and staffing strategies aligned with campus priorities and budget considerations.
- Provides expert consultation on employee relations matters, performance management, policy interpretation, and corrective action, ensuring consistency and compliance with university policies and employment laws.
- Coaches and advises supervisors and managers on leadership practices, performance feedback, change management, and conflict resolution.
- Collaborates with campus and university HR Centers of Excellence to support compensation planning, equity analysis, and retention strategies.
- Contributes to the design and delivery of HR-led programs related to training, development, career mobility, and employee engagement.
- Supports a culture of inclusion, accountability, and continuous improvement across the campus.
General Responsibilities
- Utilizes and applies in-depth academic and staff HR body of knowledge and skills to provide tactical guidance for HR related matters like salary administration, hiring, training, and policy interpretation.
- Resolves and provides solutions for more complex employee relations issues with continued partnership, counsel, and support from Centers of Expertise (COEs).
- Provides HR support for academic personnel processes, including administration for academic leaves, policy review and consultation, visa-processing coordination, and facilitation of promotion and tenure procedures.
- Collaborates with other business partners and managers to improve and build effective relationships to improve employee engagement and identify "high priority" retention needs.
- Coaches leaders to help determine best solutions regarding policy interpretation, performance issues, workforce planning, change management, conflict resolution to ensure alignment and consistency across the university.
- Provides HR consulting and problem-solving solutions on issues to leaders and managers.
- Collaborates swith HR COEs to roll out and support university-wide initiatives, ensure client's needs are understood and met, and deliver change management interventions.

EDUCATION
Required- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources.
WORK EXPERIENCE
Required- 3 years of Human Resources or related progressively responsible experience.
LICENSES AND CERTIFICATES
Preferred- SHRM-CP/PHR within 1 year.

Working Conditions / Demands This role requires the ability to effectively communicate and to operate a computer and other standard office productivity equipment. The position involves sedentary work as well as periods of time moving around an office environment and the campus. The person in this role must be able to perform the essential functions with or without an accommodation.

Advertised Salary Salary Range: $65,000 - $70,000 per year
