JOB SUMMARY:
Represents the primary contact for employees on issues regarding policies and procedures in support of all team leaders and the Human Resources Manager. Provides guidance, counsel, and problem-solving support to team leaders, teams, and individuals. Manages personnel placement function. Assumes responsibility for employee recruitment, hiring, and staffing of plant and office nonexempt positions including placement of physically restricted employees. Composes job postings and approves salary changes for employees. Serves as resource for cases involving workers' compensation.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assumes responsibility for employee recruitment, hiring, and staffing at all levels. Composes job postings that correspond to supervisors' needs. Coordinates and approves job postings at all levels. Initiates and obtains approval for changes in salary. Responsible for administrative functions including benefits, payroll, etc. Manages personnel placement function. Coordinates administration of unemployment benefits. Assumes responsibility for cases involving workers' compensation and physically restricted employees. Places restricted employees on job assignments. Identifies, recommends, and implements solutions for personnel problems/concerns. Participates in disciplinary actions up to and including separations, performance management, and conflict resolution situations. Works with team leaders to provide advice, ensure consistency of policy implementation and documentation, and monitor practices to ensure compliance with the law. Works with employees to resolve personal problems and issues relating to the Magna Employee
Charter. Participates in ongoing development, communication, and implementation of new programs and policies. Assists in planning and implementation of company employee relations programs and activities. Follows up on all employee(s) concern(s). Assists the HR manager in policy interpretation and development, and the investigation and settling of employee concerns. Understand your responsibility for health and safety in the workplace. Provide an employee with written instructions of the measures and procedures required to protect the employee.
Follow all safety rules. Report unsafe conditions immediately. Report injuries, accidents, illnesses, near misses, property damage immediately. Will not remove or make ineffective any protective device such as a guard, light curtain, etc. Will not use or operate any machine or equipment that the employee is not trained to operate. Will not use or operate any machine or equipment in a manner that may endanger any employee including themselves. Understand your responsibility for visitors and general public health and safety in the workplace. Cooperate with OSHA inspectors. Do not allow discrimination against employees who properly exercise their right under OSHA. Use appropriate Personal Protective Equipment to set a good example. Know the safety rules at Magna Mirrors - South Carolina. Understand your responsibility to the environmental programs, including ISO14001. Understand the importance of conformance with all environmental procedures of the environmental management system, including emergency response. Understand the EMS consequences, actual or potential, of their work activities and/or their behaviors from specified work instructions. Perform all other duties as required. Understands and follows existing Magna policies, procedures, work instructions and standards and makes recommendations for continuous improvements.
REQUIREMENTS:

Proficient with computerized application software, required. Experience with PeopleSoft or Workday, preferred. Experience with Microsoft Office applications (excel, word, PowerPoint, outlook, etc.), required. Demonstrated ability to handle matters of confidentiality discreetly and work with employees on issues requiring varying degrees of sensitivity. Demonstrated broad understanding of human resources principles, practices, and procedures. Demonstrated ability to lead and manage complex projects and programs. Researches and recommends new programs, coordinates necessary resources for programs and projects, and manages timing and implementation of new programs and projects. 3-5 years minimum HR Generalist experience - preferred. Bachelor's degree in business related field with demonstrated understanding of human res laws, or equivalent experience. Training or certification in Employment Law. SHRM-CP or PHR certification, preferred. Automotive industry experience, preferred.
