Job Summary

The IAM Okta Administrator is responsible for managing and securing the organization's IT infrastructure, ensuring the integrity, availability, and confidentiality of critical systems. This role involves deploying, maintaining, and troubleshooting security tools, managing access controls, monitoring system performance, and implementing security best practices. This position works closely with other security engineers, IT teams, and business units to enforce security policies, respond to incidents, and support compliance with regulatory requirements.

What you'll do

  • Administer and maintain servers, networks, and other IT systems to ensure optimal performance.

  • Install, configure, and update software and hardware components for systems.

  • Monitor system performance, conduct regular audits, and perform routine maintenance to prevent downtime.

  • Ensure system security by implementing best practices for firewalls, antivirus software, backups, and user access controls.

  • Provide technical support for users, troubleshooting hardware, software, and network issues in a timely manner.

  • Perform system backups and disaster recovery procedures.

  • Manage user accounts and permissions, ensuring proper access control and security compliance.

  • Collaborate with IT teams to plan and implement software and system upgrades or enhancements.

  • Document system configurations, troubleshooting procedures, and other relevant information for team use.

  • Assist with network management, ensuring seamless connectivity across the organization.

  • Respond to system alerts and perform root cause analysis on issues to prevent recurrence.

  • Manage cloud-based infrastructure and services (if applicable), ensuring integration with on-premises systems.

  • Stay updated with the latest industry trends, technologies, and best practices.

  • Must be accessible via mobile services (i.e. text, voice, data) during non-working hours for upgrades, system outages, and configuration changes.

What you need

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
  • Build, maintain, and optimize Okta Workflows and inline hooks to automate identity lifecycle events, access provisioning, and integration-related processes.
  • Design, implement, and support Customer Identity and Access Management (CIAM) and internal Workforce solutions using Okta, including secure SSO integrations with external partners and platforms.
  • Design, develop, and maintain integrations using Okta SDKs and APIs to support authentication, authorization, SSO, and user lifecycle management. Collaborate with application teams to implement secure identity solutions, automate provisioning workflows, and troubleshoot authentication issues while following security and best practices.
  • Configure and maintain Okta features such as OIDC, SAML, and OAuth-based integrations, inline hooks, and on-premises database integrations to support authentication, authorization, and customer identity workflows.
  • Provide ongoing operational support, troubleshooting, and optimization of Okta workforce and CIAM services, ensuring scalability, availability, and security.
  • Partner with application, infrastructure, and other security teams on Okta architecture, solution design, implementation, and best practices.
  • Develop and maintain Java-based integrations and inline hooks within Okta, supporting centralized authentication, user registration, and account lifecycle management across enterprise and member-facing applications.
  • Lead the design, development, and optimization of advanced Java solutions integrated with Okta to support centralized authentication, registration, and identity workflows across multiple platforms and environments
  • Ability to follow Project Management practices for implementing projects and changes.

  • Skilled in maintaining technical documentation and designing procedures for new technology.

  • Capable of preparing system charts, workflow diagrams, and cost-benefit analysis summaries.

  • Strong leadership and meeting participation skills.

  • Ability to stay updated on technology developments.

  • Proven experience in mentoring and providing training.

  • Skilled in managing multiple tasks or projects simultaneously.

  • Proficient in using standard office software (e.g., Microsoft Office).

  • Understanding of essential business operations.

  • In-depth knowledge of infrastructure architecture (database, messaging, security, OS, networks, storage, business continuity/disaster recovery).

  • Ability to evaluate infrastructure processes and conduct gap analysis.

  • Familiar with industry architecture standards.

  • Proficient in Change Management/Release processes.

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required. Bachelor's degree or completion of a Computer Science Program from a Technical Trade School preferred. Technical training with certification in assigned technology is required as applicable.

Infrastructure Administrator
  • Minimum of five years' experience in I.T. and/or application development required.

System Administrator
  • Minimum of five years' experience in I.T. and/or application development required.

Senior System Administrator
  • Minimum of eight years' experience in I.T. and/or application development required.

Bonus if you have
  • Demonstrated experience with managing assigned technology by performing regular and critical maintenance tasks within defined service levels preferred.

Physical Requirements

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Manual dexterity to operate a keyboard, mouse, and other IT-related tools.
  • Ability to work in a standard office environment, including attending meetings in person or virtually.

Compensation

This position can be hired as an Infrastructure Administrator, System Administrator, or Senior System Administrator, based on education, skills and experience.
