The Maintenance Supervisor focuses on directing the maintenance department in day-to-day activities to support the manufacturing unit and Delfield facilities. The supervisor leads the department, emphasizing adherence to safety protocols, driving machine reliability, and own the timely completion of all work orders. This role must be self-motivated with the ability to motivate the maintenance team and be involved in the planning and execution of equipment maintenance and plant layouts. The ideal candidate will have strong leadership skills, a keen eye for detail, and a proactive approach to problem-solving. The Maintenance Supervisor will support production by minimizing downtime, implementing proactive measures, and maximizing the reliability of equipment.
Qualifications
Major Accountability
- Direct the maintenance department to ensure daily tasks, are completed within established timeframes.
- Ensure daily/weekly timecards are completed accurately and approve time-off requests within policy guidelines.
- Drive a culture of safety with particular attention to electrical safety, lockout/tagout, arc flash, and NFPA/OSHA compliance.
- Oversee timely troubleshooting and repair of equipment to minimize downtime
Key Tasks and Responsibilities - Lead and support a team of maintenance professionals, providing training, guidance, and technical troubleshooting with emphasis on electrical systems and controls.
- Set clear daily/weekly/monthly objectives using the implemented Keep Trak CMMS system, including preventive maintenance for electrical assets.
- Conduct regular safety, maintenance, and electrical compliance audits.
- Establish goals and drive accountability for reliability, response time, and overall maintenance performance.
- Manage shift schedules to ensure adequate coverage across all shifts.
- Train employees in advanced troubleshooting and repair of electrical panels, drives, motors, PLCs, and control systems as needed.
- Provide daily support and workload coordination for the night-shift maintenance department, particularly for unplanned downtime and emergencies.
- Communicate daily with the Mechanical Engineering Manager regarding equipment status, concerns, and downtime.
- Work daily to meet KPI targets and maintenance metrics, including downtime, mean time between failures (MTBF), and preventive maintenance completion.
- Actively participate in bi-weekly Safety Committee meetings and prioritize corrective actions related to safety hazards.
- Ensure all policies, practices, CBA requirements, and procedures are clearly understood and consistently followed by direct reports.
- Consistently operate in a manner that aligns to the Company Core Values.
Specialized Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities - Technical degree in Industrial Maintenance, Electrical Engineering Technology or a related field; or relevant experience in lieu of degree.
- 5+ years in maintenance supervision within a manufacturing environment, with demonstrated leadership or supervisory experience preferred.
- Strong working knowledge of industrial electrical systems, including power distribution, motor controls, VFDs, servo drives, sensors, and industrial networking.
- Proven experience with PLC troubleshooting and programming, CNC controls, HMIs, and automated manufacturing equipment.
- Solid understanding of hydraulic and pneumatic systems as they interface with electrically controlled equipment.
- In-depth knowledge of electrical safety standards, including OSHA, NFPA 70E, and applicable EPA requirements.
- Strong leadership, coaching, and team development skills, particularly for multi-skilled electrical and maintenance technicians.
- Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities with a data-driven, root-cause mindset
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate respectfully and professionally across all levels of the organization.
