The Manager, AI Security & Data Protection is a hands-on, technical and governance-oriented role responsible for securing CBIZ's AI platforms and protecting sensitive data across the enterprise. This role leads data classification and AI security governance, designs and operates DLP and email security controls, monitors insider threats, and manages e-discovery activities in support of Legal and Compliance, leveraging various security tools and platforms.

Essential Functions and Primary Duties

• Lead AI security and data protection work, including enterprise data classification and labeling using Microsoft Purview and Varonis, with a focus on AI use cases and Copilot adoption.
• Develop and maintain AI and Information Security policies, standards, and risk frameworks, including AI risk classification, assessment, oversight, and reporting aligned to NIST/ISO and emerging AI regulations.
• Build and manage a central AI model and use-case inventory, cataloging AI activities, systems, and integrations across CBIZ, and partnering with IT and business teams to onboard new use cases securely.
• Design, implement, and operate technical controls for AI governance and data loss prevention using Zscaler, Proofpoint, Microsoft Purview, and related platforms, including rule tuning, incident triage, and response workflows.
• Oversee daily secure email security operations using Proofpoint, including policy management, phishing defense, and coordination with Security Operations and Security Engineering for threat monitoring and incident handling.
• Monitor insider-threat indicators leveraging Exabeam and other telemetry, working closely with SecOps, HR, and Legal to investigate and resolve high-risk behaviors in line with CBIZ policies.
• Deliver e-discovery and investigative support to Legal and Compliance, including searches, legal holds, and data exports using Archive360 and Microsoft Purview, ensuring chain-of-custody and regulatory requirements are met.
• Partner with Enterprise Architecture, Data Governance, and IT to embed AI security and data protection requirements into solution design, change management, and project delivery processes.
• Define and maintain playbooks for AI-related security incidents (e.g., data leakage via AI tools, prompt-injection abuse), and coordinate incident response activities end-to-end.
• Develop and deliver targeted training and awareness content on secure and responsible use of AI, data handling, and DLP/email security for end users and technical teams.
• Produce regular dashboards and reports on AI risk posture, DLP incidents, insider-threat alerts, and e-discovery activity for Security leadership and key stakeholders.
• Continuously evaluate emerging AI platforms, security capabilities, and regulatory changes to recommend enhancements to CBIZ's AI security and data protection strategy.

Preferred Qualifications

• Associate's degree in computer science, Information Systems, Cybersecurity, or a related field; or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
• 5-8+ years of experience in information security, data protection, or security operations, ideally with exposure to Microsoft 365, Purview, and cloud security controls.
• Relevant certifications such as AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner, Microsoft 365 certification, or equivalent cloud/SaaS security credentials.
• Foundational knowledge in networking (Network Fundamentals) and security domains such as Security Assessment & Testing, vulnerability management, and secure configuration.
• Hands-on experience with DLP, email security, SIEM/UEBA, and e-discovery platforms
• Familiarity with AI governance, data protection, and security frameworks (NIST CSF, NIST AI RMF, ISO 27001, ISO 42001).
• Strong analytical, documentation, and communication skills; able to collaborate effectively with IT, Legal, Compliance, and business stakeholders.

• Knowledge of industry regulations
• Ability to lead and coordinate the team activities of others
• Ability to formulate, document and recommend new policies and procedures
• Able to manage a team
• Demonstrated ability to communicate verbally and in writing throughout all levels of an organization, both internally and externally
• Ability to travel as required by business and on-call availability
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
