ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manages materials team to ensure the effective utilization of manufacturing systems to support NBS objectives.
  • Maintains lead time report and system lead times.
  • Generates processes that provide material supply to support on time delivery to customer request, inventory and financial goals.
  • Communicates with production frequently on issues affecting production, shipping deadlines, sales deliveries and backlog, life cycle planning or other business matters.
  • Supports best practice and develops standard work to properly train materials team and maintain within the area of responsibility. Aligns materials team goals to support team growth and development.
  • Partners with Operations and other functions to:
    • Maintain material master data that provides product flow and delivery information.
    • Support New Product Development (NPD) and transfers into assigned areas.
    • Support short- and long-term product requirements through production processes.
    • Drive NBS initiatives and other projects.
  • Works with Supply Chain building supplier relationships and communication with operations. Manage materials activities including schedule agreement settings for Commitment, Minimum, and Delivery quantities and the C-stock program. Coordinate with SCM on source selection, escalation of expedites, and operation objectives.
  • Oversees customer order expedites by working with order management, customer service, intercompany subsidiaries, production, and SCM.
  • Supports Continuous Improvement (CI) initiatives, including:
    • Rapid Improvement Events (RIEs), and projects
    • Manage Kanban to support manufacturing operations
    • Lead MRD and DSI initiatives
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in a related degree field. In lieu of degree, consideration for up to 4 years of additional related experience may be accepted as a trade-off.
  • Minimum of 5 years of related experience. Prior supervisory and/or project management experience preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite: Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
  • Advanced SAP/SAP-BW knowledge preferred.
  • Ability to establish work standards and expectations for self and others to include assigning and delegating work to others to accomplish goals.
  • Skilled in task prioritization and ability to adjust priorities as business needs dictate.
  • Demonstrates ability to effectively communicate orally to individuals and groups. Strong level of attention to detail.
  • Strong analytical skills to process data logically, analyze and provide recommendations.
  • Ability to resolve conflicts in a positive and constructive manner dealing effectively with employee relations issues, attending to morale and organization climate issues, and taking disciplinary actions when other means have not been successful.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Occasionally may require regional travel (10-15%).
  • Job may require visitation to various Nordson and customer sites, which have varying environments/conditions, layouts, and accessibility.
