Position Overview

CUMULUS MEDIA | Dallas is seeking a skilled News Anchor, Reporter, and Writer to join our team. The ideal candidate demonstrates strong editorial judgment, understands effective story selection, and has a keen appreciation for the power of audio to engage listeners. We are looking for someone who can deliver compelling, fast-paced storytelling and respond quickly and confidently to breaking news-elevating our coverage with accuracy, creativity, and urgency.

Our newsroom is fully staffed and equipped with the tools and technology needed for success; now we're looking for the right talent to help us continue to excel. Proficiency in digital and social media platforms, including Facebook, X, Instagram, and YouTube, is required. The role also demands a willingness to report from the field and develop strong source relationships.

Qualified candidates should have a minimum of three years of experience in medium-to-major market broadcast news, possess an exceptional work ethic, maintain a positive and proactive attitude, demonstrate strong initiative, and have a clear understanding of our target audience.

Key Responsibilities & Qualifications

Key Responsibilities:

• Write and voice news stories including outside of the newsroom
• Write news stories for the station websites
• Post new stories on social media
• Handles emergency news/weather in show; on call for weather disasters/breaking news
• Individual will perform various news duties as needed, with the potential of working overnight or early morning hours, and some anchoring as necessary
  
  

Qualifications:

• At least 3 years of experience in radio news or website journalism
• Familiarity with digital audio editing software required
• Experience with long-form, breaking, non-scripted, weather coverage is vital
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills required
• Great team player
