We are seeking an Overnight Counselor to oversee the safety & comfort of individuals working on their mental & behavioral health progress in the Holyoke Respite program. This role is ideal for those with strong experience working with mental & behavioral health needs and who thrive in awake overnight shifts in 24/7 programs.

What You'll Do: The mission of the Holyoke Respite program at BHN provides 24/7 staff, clinical assessment, and medication evaluation for up to 12 adults with various mental or behavioral health needs. We provide wraparound services on a short-term inpatient basis for up to 90 days, supporting the path to mental health recovery through a strength-based and person-centered approach.
As an
Overnight Counselor, you will provide direct support to individuals awake during the overnight shift as needed and ensure their safety at all times, updating program staff on their progress in the program.
Responsibilities include:
- Ensuring the safety of individuals served by completing hourly safety checks & updating the supervisor through voicemails.
- Assessing & supporting the needs of individuals served based on mental status, social functioning, and level of risk.
- Assisting individuals served with daily needs and with meeting program goals.
- Implementing appropriate treatment responses using the least restrictive alternatives based on clinical assessments.
- Completing documentation including safety checks, shift reports, and individual progress in a clear and timely manner.
- Updating supervisor and nurse regarding behavioral challenges, treatment, safety and discharge planning.
- Consulting with program nurse for emergency treatment and medication self-administration, as needed.
- Maintaining the program in an orderly and clean manner to ensure safety & comfort of individuals.
What You'll Need: - High School Diploma or GED equivalent (required); Associate's or Bachelor's Degree (preferred).
- At least one year of strong experience in mental and behavioral health (required).
- Bilingual in Spanish and English (preferred).
- High motivation to work with individuals with mental & behavioral health population (required).
- Strong verbal and written communication skills to establish rapport with individuals and complete documentation.
- Valid driver's license and registered, insured vehicle for all available working hours (preferred).
- ServSafe certification (preferred).
- MAP certification or openness to obtain upon hire (required).

Pay Range: $21.50/hr-$25.27/hr + shift differentials
