Work Hours:

Non-standard (40+ hour) workweek: 26 weeks (04/12/2026 - 10/10/2026)

Standard 40-hour workweek: 6 weeks (03/08/2026 - 04/11/2026 & 1 week 10/11/2026-10/17/2026)

Housing: Onsite housing (Housing is provided as a condition of employment)

BRIEF JOB DESCRIPTION: This is maintenance and personal services work supervising the operations and maintenance of Lamoine State Park located in the town of Lamoine. Lamoine State Park is a day use and camping facility featuring picnic facilities, water access, a very active boat launch facility with a town Harbormaster, and a state park campground. This position will also provide management support for Branch Lake State Park in Ellsworth. Primary duties include managing park operations; developing community relations; managing park maintenance; interpreting and promoting the park; performing administrative duties; supervising protection and enforcement; managing personnel, planning and managing emergency operations; and supervising all staff training. It is imperative that a good working relationship with the Town of Lamoine and the City of Ellsworth is fostered and maintained. Supervision is exercised over five park positions and many volunteers. Work is performed under general supervision, but the person in this position often works independently to manage the facilities.

Typical Duties Include: Recruiting, hiring, and supervising park employees and volunteers; enforcing rules and regulations; maintaining, cleaning and repairing facilities; and reporting income and use statistics and operating and maintenance costs. The person in this position will be trained and certified in First Aid, CPR, general safety, and chain saw operation as a requirement of this position. The person in this position must reside in the housing provided by the Bureau and must be able to safely and efficiently operate a range of equipment including vehicles, large and small tractors, grooming equipment, chainsaws, and other power and hand tools.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: An Associate's Degree Recreation Management or a related field and a minimum of one year of experience in park operations or a similar related activity, to include supervisory or managerial experience. Directly related experience may be substituted for education on a year-for-year basis. For the purposes of this classification, a year is defined as being the equivalent of a 25-week or more season.
