Resident Life houses approximately 12,000 students, predominately first-year students, in 19 resident centers. Most of the centers are traditional residence halls. In addition to our resident centers, we have 19 Living Learning Centers and Thematic Communities. We are committed to providing a holistic experience for every student. Part of that commitment entails helping students to be actively involved and gain that sense of belonging as they explore the wide range of campus resources and activities.
Job Summary
IU takes a student-centered, educational, and developmental approach when working with students. The care coordinator position plays an essential role in the Residence Life Care and Conduct team. This position is
Department Specific Responsibilities
- Responsible for tracking all care cases with special emphasis on the moderate and elevated student cases.
- Ensures that someone has contacted a student assigned to a care case within specified time frames.
- Works with the Residence Life Care and Conduct team and other Residence Life staff, such as resident assistants, student graduate assistants, and/or student development coordinators.
- Interface with students, parents, and campus partners as needed.
- Assigns care cases to staff within the residence centers.
- Monitors and audits cases. Completes analytics reports as required.
- Provides staff with a time frame and specific tasks based on the National Association for Behavioral Intervention and Threat Assessment (NABITA) Rating that is assigned by the Student Care and Resource Center team.
- Follows up with residence center staff as needed to ensure they are on track with response timeframes and completing the specified tasks.
- Transfers case notes from cases to the Care Team agenda spreadsheet in preparation for the weekly Care Team meetings.
- Closes cases as needed.
- Makes direct connections with students to expedite or fill service gaps, ensuring a care connection with each student. This may be through phone calls, emails, and sending resource letters.
- Becomes proficient in Maxient to navigate cases, fulfill audits and meet other job expectations.
- Meets 1-on-1 with the Residence Life Associate Director weekly for case consults and to address other needs of the position.
- Consults with Residence Life Associate and/or Assistant Director to address cases.
- Works with the Residence Life Associate Director of Care and Conduct and the Residence Life Associate Director of Center Management to prepare for the weekly Care Team Meetings.
- Attends required staff and campus partner meetings.
- Facilitates training for Residence Life and other campus partners.
- Fulfills other assignments as needed to further support Residence Life Care and Conduct team and Office of Student Conduct staff.
QualificationsCombinations of related education and experience may be considered. Education beyond the minimum required may be substituted for work experience. Work experience beyond the minimum required may be substituted for education.
EDUCATION
Required- Bachelor's degree in student affairs, social work, counseling, public health, education, or related field.
Preferred- Master's degree in higher education, student affairs, or related field.
WORK EXPERIENCE
Required- 1 year of experience in social work, counseling, public health, education, or related experience.

Working Conditions / DemandsThis role requires the ability to effectively communicate and to operate a computer and other standard office productivity equipment. The position involves sedentary work as well as periods of moving around in an office environment and on the campus. The person in this role must be able to perform the essential functions with or without accommodation.

Advertised Salary$23.25 - $24.25 per hour, based on education and qualifications
Work Hours20-24 hours a week
Primary workdays will be Monday-Wednesday.
