Description
The Department of Philosophy at the University of Chicago invites applications for part-time Lecturers during the 2025-26 academic year.
The selected candidate will have part-time teaching opportunities in the undergraduate Philosophy program, specifically courses related to medical ethics. Responsibilities include preparing and teaching craft seminars or workshop-style classes, holding regularly scheduled office hours, and the preparation and grading of assignments, inclusive of providing written feedback on student work. Depending on the curricular needs of the department, the successful candidate may teach between one and four courses per academic year.
The terms and conditions of employment for this position are covered by a collective bargaining agreement between the University and Service Employees International Union. The per-course salary for academic year 2025-26 will be at least $8,883. This position is not benefits eligible.
Qualifications
Applicants must hold a bachelor's degree or equivalent; a PhD is preferred. Applicants must have professional experience in a related field and/or at least the equivalent of one year of experience teaching at the university or post-secondary level.
