Job Summary
Summary
The Patient Financial Services Representative helps make sure all patient information is correct and complete. This includes checking, completing and updating registration details, verifying insurance, and helping patients apply for financial assistance or set up payment plans.
The representative works closely with patients, hospital staff, and insurance companies to answer billing questions and solve payment issues. They also update patient records, explain available programs, and guide patients through the financial process.
Good communication, accuracy, and customer service skills are important for this role. The representative may also help train new staff and share information about financial programs with patients and the community.

Essential Functions
-Meet with patients or their representatives to explain the financial aspects of their healthcare services, including insurance coverage, copayments, deductibles, and out-of-pocket expenses.
-Provide clear and accurate information about available financial assistance programs, eligibility criteria, and application processes.
-Assist patients in understanding and completing financial aid applications, ensuring all required documentation is collected and submitted.
-Verify patients' insurance coverage, including eligibility, benefits, and pre-authorization requirements.
-Collaborate with insurance companies and healthcare providers to obtain necessary authorizations for procedures, treatments, or services.
-Complete and update patient registration records in Epic, ensuring accuracy and compliance with organizational standards.
-Assist patients in completing required consent forms for registration.
-Provide exceptional customer service by addressing patient inquiries with professionalism, empathy, and efficiency.
Qualifications
Education
High School Diploma or Equivalent required and Bachelor's Degree Health Administration preferred

Licenses and Credentials
Experience
Experience in a healthcare financial services or patient advocacy role. 1-2 years preferred
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge of healthcare registration, billing and reimbursement processes, insurance plans, and financial assistance programs.
- Familiarity with government programs such as Medicaid, Medicare, and Social Security is beneficial.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain complex financial concepts in a clear and empathetic manner.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail for managing documentation and application processes.
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with professionalism and discretion.
- Proficiency in using relevant computer software and applications for data entry, documentation, and communication.
