Role Description

The Place Finish Field Lead is responsible for leading and executing place and finish operations in the field to deliver safe, high-quality concrete outcomes aligned with project goals. This role directs and develops place/finish crews, applies disciplined phase planning practices, and coordinates equipment, materials, and workforce readiness to achieve predictable results. The Place Finish Field Lead is critical to translating project plans into successful field execution while driving productivity, craftsmanship, and team performance. This is a working foreman position and requires a minimum of 5 years leading a finishing crew or similar.

Key Responsibilities

  • Field Execution: Deliver concrete work that meets defined safety, quality, and production standards.
  • Crew Management: Supervise and develop place/finish crews to build craft competency, reinforce safe work practices, and drive consistent field performance.
  • Phase Plans: Plan and prepare place/finish phases of work to align workforce, equipment, and materials with project sequencing and schedule requirements.
  • Project Collaboration: Coordinate with project leadership and stakeholders to communicate status, resolve issues, and align field activities with overall project objectives.
Tasks & Duties

Field Execution Leadership
  • Lead a place/finish crew across projects, traveling between jobs as required to oversee execution.
  • Perform and supervise concrete placing and finishing activities, including slabs, paving, site work, and specialty finishes.
  • Operate and oversee the use of concrete equipment and machinery, maintaining safe and effective field operations.
  • Step into craft work as needed to maintain production, quality, and schedule commitments.
Crew Supervision and Development
  • Direct daily activities of place/finish teams to achieve defined project objectives.
  • Train and mentor crew members on proper equipment use, finishing techniques, and productivity expectations.
  • Promote safe work practices and reinforce compliance with company standards.
  • Develop field talent by providing coaching, feedback, and hands-on guidance.
Phase Planning and Readiness
  • Develop a defined execution plan for the place/finish phase of work.
  • Review project drawings and specifications to identify obstacles, risks, and workflow opportunities.
  • Stage equipment, materials, and workstations in advance to optimize workflow and minimize downtime.
  • Collaborate with project leadership to align schedule sequencing and field logistics.
Quality and Productivity Performance
  • Deliver finished concrete work that meets project specifications and quality standards.
  • Monitor production rates and adjust crew deployment to maintain schedule alignment.
  • Identify risks or constraints impacting performance and proactively recommend solutions.
  • Reinforce standardized work practices to improve consistency and predictability.
Project Communication and Coordination
  • Communicate status updates, constraints, and resource needs to Field Leads, Project Leads, and Place Finish Leads or operations depending on the information.
  • Coordinate with other trades and internal teams to support smooth transitions and sequencing.
  • Provide accurate updates regarding progress, productivity, and quality metrics.
Administrative and Documentation Oversight
  • Review and track time sheets, delivery tickets, and sign-in/sign-out documentation for accuracy.
  • Support proper documentation of production quantities and field records.
  • Maintain organized and accurate field documentation in alignment with company procedures.

The salary range for this position is estimated to be between $95,000 - $110,000 annualized. Additional compensation in the form of a vehicle allowance, profit sharing, and company benefits may also be included.
