Position Summary:
Pricing Manager will lead the creation of a comprehensive pricing capability for a growing specialty chemical company. This is a new role with a broad mandate to design, implement, and manage pricing strategies, governance, tools, and processes from the ground up. The ideal candidate is both strategic and hands on, comfortable building structure where none exists, and capable of influencing cross functional stakeholders in a dynamic commercial environment. Key Responsibilities:
Pricing Strategy and Design
- Develop a holistic pricing strategy aligned with market dynamics, business objectives, cost structures, and the company value proposition.
- Establish pricing models, segmentation frameworks, and value-based approaches for specialty chemical product lines.
- Create margin management strategies for new and existing products.
Pricing Governance and Process Creation
- Build pricing processes including quote management, discount structure, price review cadence, and approval workflows.
- Define policies related to price setting, adjustments, surcharges, and contract pricing.
- Establish a governance model that provides visibility, control, and consistency across commercial teams.
CRM Integration and Data Management
- Ensure all pricing activity is captured, tracked, and managed within the CRM.
- Partner with Sales and IT teams to develop standardized CRM workflows for pricing requests, approvals, and deal tracking.
- Maintain data accuracy in the CRM to support forecasting, customer insights, and margin analysis.
- Use CRM data to identify patterns, pricing opportunities, and customer behaviors.
Analytics and Tools
- Design and implement pricing analytics capabilities including dashboards, reporting, and margin analysis.
- Partner with IT and external vendors to select and deploy tools that support pricing execution such as CPQ or pricing software.
- Analyze customer behavior, market trends, and competitive benchmarks to inform pricing decisions.
Business Partnering and Cross Functional Leadership
- Collaborate closely with Sales, Marketing, Finance, Supply Chain, and Product Management.
- Guide Sales teams on pricing strategy, deal structure, and negotiation guardrails.
- Provide training and change management to support adoption of new pricing processes and CRM workflows.
Continuous Improvement
- Identify pricing opportunities that improve profitability and competitive positioning.
- Develop a long-term roadmap for pricing excellence including automation, improved CRM utilization, and advanced analytics.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in business, Finance, Economics, Engineering, or related field.
- 5 + years of experience in pricing, commercial analytics, or product management ideally in chemicals, materials, or industrial markets.
- Strong financial and analytical capabilities with experience using pricing or business intelligence tools.
- Experience working within a CRM platform such as Salesforce or Microsoft Dynamics.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Proven ability to build and implement scalable processes in fast moving environments.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence senior stakeholders.
- Experience in value-based pricing or margin optimization is preferred.
