The Role

Wood is currently seeking a Team Lead Overhead Line Engineer to join our Wood Transmission and Distribution team in Orlando, Florida. This role will suit someone with a significant experience in high voltage transmission OHL design who is keen to help in the development of our team and grow their team leadership skills. The role will be responsible for the management of the engineering team and ensure the engineering deliverables on assigned projects are delivered against the allocated contract specifications, program and budget.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Typical responsibilities

• Manage the engineering deliverables in accordance with the agreed schedule.
• Create design deliverables to confirm the outputs of the engineering studies to internal and external stakeholders.
• Ensure the engineering management including delivery updates, change control and risk management.
• Complete checking and approval of deliverables in your areas of technical competence. You will be expected at times complete design activities as needed to meet the schedule.
• Ensure the constructability and safety by design requirements are met in our deliverables.
• Provide guidance to the team as needed to help develop others within the team.
• Keep up to date with all technical quality management procedures, developments and specifications related to the discipline work scope.

Expected:

• Experience of delivering Overhead High Voltage Transmission (>100kV) line Engineering design solutions used in construction.
• Understanding of key Health and Safety impacts on OHL construction contracts.
• Fluent spoken and written English language.
• Ability to work as part of a dispersed and remote team and be able to communicate through collaboration software such as Microsoft teams.

Desirable:

• Experience in working to international transmission design standards and codes.
• Experience of providing engineering inputs to OHL Construction activities including the planning and delivery of OHL Construction.
• Understanding of engineering management including schedule and cost management.
• Experience supporting tendering activities.
• Experience presenting technical outputs and supporting client engagement
