Job Description

Job Summary/Position Purpose:

Responsible for the labor performance of assigned production areas and overall supervision of assigned direct and indirect employees. Manages production labor to accomplish effective setup, run, and completion of product to standard quality and standard time. Enforce company policy, 5S conditions, product, process, and equipment standards. Responsible for the initial training, cross-training, and deployment of labor to support the work centers in their area. Responsible for meeting internal delivery and external ship dates. Supervisors are to make decisions based on the priority of safety first, quality second, delivery third, and cost/continuous improvement fourth.

• Weld processes - tack and weld complete
• Fabrication processes - Laser, Drill, CNC, Deburr, Punch and Press Brake
• Assembly

• Quality - product is produced to meet internal and external specifications
• Schedule - product is produced in accordance with Production Schedule due date.
• Training - employees are trained and qualified to perform the required process
• Continuous Improvement - Lean Manufacturing
• Initiate Lean Manufacturing practices
• Assist in deploying a Continuous Improvement culture.
• ERP Operating system
• Learn how to use MRP, Routings and Operation codes
• Production standards
• Department labor hours are scheduled to meet time study guidelines
• MOS - production labor boards are maintained for visual verification
• Work with ME team to define labor standards

Essential Functions:

Welding, fabrication, assembly, paint, maintenance, shipping, material handling, safety general responsibilities for all areas:

• Plans and establishes schedules for listed departments via the production schedule
• Assures that all manufactured products are processed with a work order and labeled accordingly.
• Schedules the daily output to assure products are produced and staged two days prior to the next operation due date.
• Will document errors on the work orders and return to the Production Scheduling Department for BOM and/or drawing revisions.
• Maintain employee timecards, perform employee reviews, and approve vacation requests.

• Assures that all responsible employees are following the company safety requirements.
• Maintain housekeeping activities
• Ensures that inspection tool calibration is taking place and tools reveal current calibration sticker.
• Will monitor PM compliance to assure machines are operating at optimal performance.
• Be an active participant in the safety program and make sure employees are in compliance with PPE requirements
• Will ensure that all required inspections for each department are performed per the Process Control Plan requirements.
• Ensure that welding operators utilize the weld smoke suction devices when welding
• Ensure that robotic weld programs are per the current drawing ECN
• Become knowledgeable on the AWS D1.1 welding code
• Ensure weld operators are trained on the welding code and perform inspections - first piece, in process and last piece
• Ensure all new weld operators are subjected to the welding code orientation process
• Ensure all weld operators maintain weld identification stamp and stamping of work
• Monitor quality of welded products using visual techniques, measurement tools and in process inspection report compliance
• Plan and establish work schedules in the fabrication areas - laser, drill, CNC, punch, deburr, press brake
• Monitor nesting program to ensure material utilization is at the highest level
• Perform die set ups as needed and verify tooling in in good condition and producing quality parts
• Operate machines as needed and ensure quality parts are being produced
• Monitor dust collector system to ensure dust is being extracted to produce quality environment
• Ensure safety lights / curtains are being used and working properly for all guarded machinery
• Plan and establish schedules in the assembly departments
• Ensure all assembled products are driven by the production report and labeled with a bar code tag
• Schedules daily output to ensure assembled products are staged two days prior to the shipping due dates
• Maintain OEM order schedules driven from week production and line sequence reports
• Ensure assembled products are packaged in a safe manner and per customer specific requirements
• Oversee and ensure inspections are taking place - first piece, in process and last piece, wheel end and spindle torque process
• Monitor the quality of assembled products using visual techniques, measurement tools and in process inspection report compliance
• Supervise all Leads and operators
• Perform other duties as assigned

Education Requirements:

Associates or Bachelor's Degree in a related technical area preferred, but not required

Minimum Qualifications:

• Supervisory experience is required
• Bilingual Spanish a plus
• Formal training in Lean Manufacturing, MRP systems and welding processes a plus
• Demonstrate excellent problem solving, decision-making, communication and interpersonal skills

Physical Demands:

• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
• Ability to stand for long periods of time
• Ability to work in sometimes extreme temperatures in the warehouse and production areas
• Occasional travel
