Vertiv is seeking a Quality Engineer in Pelzer, SC, to lead and oversee quality engineering initiatives that ensure compliance with industry standards, customer requirements, and internal processes. This role will manage quality activities across manufacturing operations, focusing on FMEA's (Failure Mode and Effects Analysis), Control Plans, Continuous Improvement, and Audits. The Quality Engineer will not only investigate and lead corrective actions but also guide a team in implementing preventive controls, developing robust quality systems, and driving performance excellence.
Key Responsibilities
Quality Systems & Continuous Improvement
Lead root cause analysis efforts and ensure the development and implementation of effective corrective and preventive actions.
Facilitate the creation and approval of PFMEA, control plans, and process flows for both current production and new product development.
Oversee audits of the Vertiv Quality Management System and ensure compliance across all manufacturing elements, including receiving inspection and product release transitions.
Develop, implement, and monitor continuous improvement projects to reduce scrap, improve yield, and enhance product reliability.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
Serve as the primary quality liaison with Engineering, Service, Manufacturing, Supplier Quality, and Product Management.
Engage directly with customers to address and resolve quality concerns while maintaining strong client relationships.
Partner with suppliers to ensure incoming materials meet quality standards and support supplier corrective action initiatives.
Metrics & Reporting
Collect, analyze, and present plant-wide quality performance metrics to senior leadership.
Track key performance indicators such as scrap rate, first-pass yield, and audit findings to drive data-based decision making.
Ensure timely communication of quality trends, risks, and opportunities for improvement.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
BA/BS degree or minimum of 5 years of progressive quality experience in manufacturing (degree preferred in Mechanical, Industrial, Electrical, or Systems Engineering).
Valid driver's license.
Demonstrated experience in leading teams and managing projects within a manufacturing or quality environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
Prior experience in a quality role.
Strong understanding of FMEA, control plans, PPAP, and quality audits (IATF, ISO, etc.).
Proven success in scrap reduction, continuous improvement initiatives, and corrective action leadership.
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to influence cross-functional teams.
Proficiency in MS Office, Minitab, and/or Power BI for data analysis and reporting.
Strong work ethic with the ability to set high standards for the quality team.
Education & Certifications
Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering or related field preferred.
Lean Six Sigma certification or equivalent continuous improvement training is a plus.
