Position Overview:

The aim of this role is to Supervise QC SAB/RAB personnel and to ensure Continuous Process Improvement and maximize customer satisfaction for internal and external customers. This will involve supervising staff and making technical recommendations on product disposition, organizing and monitoring workflow, collecting and analyzing data, and performing product acceptance. Of key importance is the ability to quickly identify and correct negative trends. This position will work closely and collectively with Engineering, Operations, Lean Operating Systems, Project Management and R&D to achieve these goals. Position reports to the Quality Manager.

Responsibilities and Duties: (*Indicates an Essential Function) Ensure adherence to safety procedures, regulations, and are committed to creating a safe working environment.

  • Resolve personnel problems by analyzing data; investigating issues; identifying solutions; recommending action.
  • Confer with management or subordinates to resolve workplace issues.
  • Build relationships across all departments including HR.
  • Champion the SubCom QMS and coach all levels in its use.
  • Demonstrate an in-depth knowledge of the product, how it works, and the measurements required to ensure world class quality.
  • Technical ability to know, understand and communicate the various processes of their department.
  • Ability to identify production bottlenecks or constraints and work with others to improve product flow.
  • Ensure cross training and job rotation of personnel; effectively and efficiently resource plan and schedule to meet commitments.
  • Ensure that employees are trained to the procedures, material and equipment prior to commencing work.
  • Conduct performance reviews, provide areas of development and recognize achievements.
  • Analysis and reporting of KPI data - daily, weekly, monthly reporting.
  • Statistical analysis of manufacturing process capability
  • Statistical analysis of measurement systems
  • Continuous Improvement - Promote and Drive "Zero Defect" mentality within the factory with the use of Lean Manufacturing tools such as Lean, Six-Sigma, Mistake Proofing, Measurement System Analysis, and Statistical Process control (SPC).
  • Lead / support problem solving activities using a structured, disciplined approach.
  • Customer collaboration / interface - Periodic evaluation of Customer quality performance and support addressing Customer complaints. Monitor quality investigations and step in to facilitate if escalated by the Customer.
  • Supplier collaboration as needed to work through supplier quality issues as well as to help facilitate changes to suppliers and supplier processes/products in a way that minimizes risk and impact to SubCom and its customers


Qqualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Quality or related technical field. MS/MBA preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment, previous Supervision experience is preferred.
  • Six Sigma Green/Black belt desired
  • Demonstrated expertise in quality tools, practices and procedures.
  • Working knowledge of concepts of probability and statistics as well as aide in updating/establishing SPC and Gage R&R studies.
  • Excellent communication and coaching skills at all levels from the shop floor to top management
  • Proficiency and demonstrated ability to make independent, informed decisions.
  • Experience in auditing both internal processes/systems as well as auditing of suppliers
