Role Summary
The Lease Payments Analyst position is a mid-level role within the Land Administration team, responsible for managing land lease agreements and ensuring accurate payment processing. The role requires a detail oriented and proactive approach, with the ability to collaborate effectively across various departments. The successful candidate will interpret contractual land agreements, process payments, and maintain comprehensive lease records to support land rights and compliance.
Responsibilities
- Review and interpret lease agreements to understand payment obligations and land use terms.
- Process lease payments accurately and on schedule, adhering to contractual requirements.
- Collaborate with Land Representatives, Accounting, Operations, Legal, and other departments to resolve issues and facilitate smooth workflows.
- Maintain and update lease records, including critical dates, payment schedules, land descriptions, and supporting documentation within land databases.
- Utilize digital mapping tools such as Google Earth and ArcGIS to visualize land parcels, boundaries, and rights-of-way for land rights management.
- Initiate and prepare lease renewals and terminations, coordinating with government agencies including the Texas General Land Office, Port of Houston Authority, and State of New Mexico.
- Interpret and communicate contractual rights and obligations to internal stakeholders with clarity and compliance.
- Research pipeline facility information and calculate CPI adjustments for lease payments.
- Respond professionally to ownership changes and payment inquiries, ensuring accurate and timely communication.
- Review physical and digital lease files to prepare monthly payment reports and support audit processes.
Qualifications - Proven experience in land lease contract administration, land management, or accounts payable.
- Strong understanding of midstream surface leases and right-of-way agreements, with familiarity in land and pipeline operations terminology.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including formulas, VLOOKUP, pivot tables, and data reconciliation.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail for precise recordkeeping and payment processing.
- Ability to communicate proactively and work collaboratively across multiple departments.
- Familiarity with digital mapping tools such as Google Earth and ArcGIS.
- Strong problem solving skills and the ability to resolve complex issues involving conflicting data.
- Experience with land administration software such as Quorum Land System or similar systems is preferred.
- Knowledge of easement and ROW agreement setup and database management is desirable.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in land management, surface lease contract administration, or accounts payable.
Publishing Pay Range: $30.00 - $35.00 hourly
This position is based in office and requires employee to work on-site.
