Your Role:

As a Scientist II, you will be a key driver in evaluation, design, development, and implementation of innovative New Approach Methodologies (NAMs) in biomedical research. This role involves utilizing these NAM methods and connecting them to 'Omics areas such as genomics, transcriptomics, proteomics, and metabolomics relevant for basic research and drug discovery. You will leverage your expertise to accelerate the translation of human-relevant data into actionable insights, directly driving the commercialization of these tools to the life science and drug discovery market.

Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop and optimize New Approach Methodologies (NAMs) including in vitro (2D/3D/organoids), in silico and in chemico approaches
  • Integrate NAM platforms with multi-omics (genomics, transcriptomics, proteomics, metabolomics) to generate human-relevant datasets
  • Build, validate and maintain end-to-end pipelines for omics data processing, QC, analysis and visualization
  • Perform multi-omics integration, pathway and network analyses to produce actionable biological insights
  • Benchmark and qualify NAMs versus existing standards; define acceptance criteria and SOPs for assay deployment
  • Develop and apply predictive models (statistical/ML) to translate NAM + omics outputs into phenotypic or safety predictions
  • Support commercialization: prepare validation packages, customer materials, and participate in pilots and customer engagements
  • Ensure rigorous data management and reproducibility (metadata, versioned pipelines, documentation)
  • Communicate results through technical reports, presentations and publications; represent the team externally when needed
  • Monitor emerging NAM and omics technologies and incorporate relevant advances into workflows and product.

Who You Are:

Minimum Qualifications:
  • PhD in Biology, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Bioengineering Pharmacology, Toxicology, Environmental Science or other Life Science field
  • 4+ years of experience in biotech/pharma or advanced academic research labs, developing and implementing NAMs and multi-omics workflows (RNA-seq, LC-MS/MS, metabolomics) to generate translational, product-ready data

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Evaluated and benchmarked NAMs and platforms to assess capability, cost, throughput and fit to customer needs; produced vendor comparisons and go/no-go recommendations
  • Designed studies integrating ≥2 omics layers (e.g., RNA-seq + proteomics), performed QC, differential analysis and pathway interpretation to generate actionable biological insights
  • Built versioned, containerized pipelines (Docker/Singularity + Nextflow/Snakemake) using R/Python and delivered automated QC reports and reproducible processed datasets
  • Operated lab automation (Opentrons/Hamilton), LC-MS/MS, high-content imaging and multicolor flow cytometry; implemented scalable workflows and managed instrument QC
  • Led ambiguous pilots or discovery projects to defined milestones, facilitated stakeholder alignment workshops, produced phased project plans or decision-gates, and delivered interim prototypes or data packages that informed next steps
  • Hands-on with 3D cell culture, organoids, organ-on-chip or complex co-cultures; SOP creation and troubleshooting
  • Practical experience with RNA-seq and LC-MS/MS workflows (proteomics or metabolomics)
  • Cell-based assays (luciferase, ELISA, HTRF/AlphaLISA) and experience with HCI or multicolor flow cytometry
  • Familiarity with using and coding lab automation protocols (e.g., Opentrons) and use common lab equipment
  • Proficient in R/Python, basic ML, and building reproducible analysis pipelines (Docker/Nextflow or equivalent)
  • Use of metadata, version control (Git), and basic LIMS/ELN or cloud workflows
