Position Description:
The Senior Accountant is responsible for working with members of both the Accounting and Operation teams to complete and/or coordinate the fiscal close cycles, and underlying processes, in a multi-entity environment. The Senior Accountant is involved in special projects focused on continually improving policies, procedures, and the processing efficiency of reported financial information.
Duties and Responsibilities:

- • Work with the Assistant Controller, Accounting Department, and contracted service providers to complete and/or coordinate the completion of the following processes: month and year-end close, accounts payable/receivable, cash receipts, general ledger, payroll, cash forecasting, revenue and expenditure variance analysis, sales and purchases, Balance Sheet and Investment Statement reconciliations, fixed asset activity, and debt activity.
• Work with the Payroll Department to develop payroll procedures, policies, field training and reporting processes, while ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal tax wage and labor guidelines. This includes analyses and reconciliations of various payroll liabilities accounts, and Union dues, Health and Welfare, and Pension reporting related to Union employees within the signed Collective Bargaining Agreements.
• Support compliance with Federal contracting requirements, including FAR cost principles, indirect cost structures, and audit readiness
• Assist with project cost accounting, labor distribution review, and monitoring of direct and indirect cost allocations.
• Utilize Deltek Costpoint to support project accounting, reporting, and financial analysis.
• Assist with system improvements, data integrity, and reporting efficiency.
• Track and maintain fixed asset records, including monthly depreciation expense, asset additions and disposals, annual asset rollforward activity, and reconciliation of fixed asset subledgers to the general ledger
• Account for leased assets and lease liabilities in accordance with applicable accounting standards, including initial recognition, monthly amortization and interest expense, and ongoing reconciliation of lease-related balances.
• Track leasehold improvements, including capitalization, amortization over appropriate useful lives or lease terms, monitoring of impairments, and coordination with facilities and operations for asset changes.
• Monitor and analyze accounting data to produce financial reports or statements in compliance with GAAP.
• Recommend and establish proper accounting methods, policies and principles.
• Develop and run associated financial reports as necessary.
• Complete and/or coordinate annual financial statement, tax, workers compensation and other internal/external audits to ensure departmental policies and procedures support compliance.
• Propose improvements to systems and procedures and initiate corrective actions once approved by supervisor.
• Participate in projects as either a lead, an influencer or advisor as they relate to this position's essential functions.
• Provide input into department's goal setting process.
• Meet financial accounting objectives.
• Establish and maintain fiscal files and records to document transactions.

Required Qualifications and Experience: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to satisfactorily perform each essential duty. • Computer skills on CostPoint or equivalent system, MS Office, accounting software, and databases.
• Ability to manipulate large amounts of data.
• Proven knowledge of bookkeeping and accounting principles, practices, standards, laws and regulations.
• High attention to detail and accuracy.
• Ability to direct and supervise.
• Familiarity with financial accounting statements and consolidations.
• Bachelor Degree in Accounting, Finance or relevant area of study.
• Five (5) years proven working experience as an Accountant or equivalent position at a corporate-level. Prefer experience in a multi-level entity and/or government contracting environment.
Relevant certification (e.g. CMA or CPA) will be preferred.
