Role Summary
A senior communications technician responsible for providing national telecommunications field support across a large geographic area. This role involves installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and support of Avaya communications systems, ensuring reliability and performance. The position requires a proactive, independent professional capable of handling diverse technical tasks, including project assistance and providing first-level training for field personnel.
Responsibilities
- Install, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot Avaya Communications equipment including CM, Session Manager, System Manager, G430 and G450 media gateways, and voicemail systems.
- Support and assist project teams with the implementation of telecommunications projects and system deployments.
- Manage the installation and maintenance of voice and data networks in collaboration with carrier service providers.
- Provide first-level support and training to field operations personnel to ensure effective system operation.
- Serve as the primary point of contact between field teams and the IT organization for communications-related issues.
- Conduct fault isolation and troubleshooting to resolve communications system failures efficiently.
- Perform preventative maintenance to ensure system uptime and reliability.
- Lead and oversee the work of local contractors engaged in telecommunications system installation and maintenance.
- Document system configurations, repairs, and project activities accurately.
- Maintain availability for 24/7 on-call support to address urgent communications needs.
Qualifications - High school diploma or G.E.D. required; Associate's degree in Electronics or equivalent experience preferred.
- Minimum of 7 years' experience in installation and/or maintenance of Avaya telecommunications systems.
- Proficiency with testing equipment and software used in Avaya system support.
- Network certification such as CCNA is a plus.
- Strong troubleshooting skills and experience working with voice network infrastructures.
- Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and manage time effectively.
- Excellent communication skills for interacting with internal teams, contractors, and clients.
- Physical ability to work outdoors and operate motor vehicles safely.
- Availability for travel up to 50%.
Publishing Pay Range: $100,000.00 - $110,000.00 Annually
This position is based in office and requires employee to work on-site.
