Overview
We're seeking a Senior Enterprise Data Modeler to lead the design, governance, and evolution of enterprise data domains and canonical data models that enable consistent business semantics and reusable integrations. This role partners closely with Enterprise Architecture, API/integration teams, and cloud data engineering to ensure models are accurately reflected from business concepts through implementation-particularly within Snowflake and related cloud platforms.
What You'll Do
-
Lead enterprise domain modeling by defining core entities, relationships, and business semantics to drive shared understanding and reuse across the organization.
-
Define and govern canonical data models that serve as the semantic foundation for enterprise APIs and integration patterns.
-
Partner with Enterprise Architecture and API/integration teams to ensure canonical models are consistently represented in API schemas, contracts, and payloads-supporting decoupled, reusable integrations.
-
Translate business requirements into models by producing conceptual, logical, and physical data models with clear traceability from meaning to implementation.
-
Guide cloud data modeling in Snowflake by reviewing and shaping designs to align with enterprise standards and optimize for scalability, performance, and long-term maintainability.
-
Establish and enforce modeling standards including naming conventions, key strategies, history patterns (e.g., slowly changing approaches), and documentation practices.
-
Facilitate cross-functional alignment through working sessions that resolve semantic differences and drive consensus on enterprise and canonical models.
-
Provide technical leadership and mentorship for junior modelers via coaching, design reviews, and continuous improvement of modeling practices.
-
Manage model lifecycle and change including versioning, impact analysis, and controlled evolution as business needs change.
-
Communicate effectively across audiences by explaining complex modeling concepts to business leaders, architects, engineers, and analysts to ensure correct adoption.
Required Experience & Qualifications -
8+ years of progressive experience in data modeling, enterprise data architecture, or information architecture.
- Demonstrated success delivering enterprise and domain data models in complex, cross-organizational environments.
- Hands-on expertise producing conceptual, logical, and physical models supporting multiple lines of business and use cases.
- Proven experience defining and governing canonical data models, particularly to support API and enterprise integration strategies.
- Experience modeling for modern cloud data platforms-Snowflake strongly preferred.
- Strong command of modeling principles and trade-offs (e.g., normalization vs. dimensional, history management, reuse vs. context-specific design).
- Track record of partnering with stakeholders to convert business meaning into durable, scalable data structures.
- Ability to influence without authority, facilitate consensus, and drive decisions across teams.
- Experience mentoring/leading other modelers with accountability for quality and consistency.
