Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities
New Product Development (NPD) Support

  • Participate in design reviews, PFMEA, DFMEA, control plans, and risk assessments
  • Develop and execute inspection plans and First Article Inspections (FAI)
  • Validate inspection methods, gaging, and test equipment for new designs
  • Partner with Engineering to identify design for quality and manufacturability risks early in development
Market Quality & Corrective Actions
  • Investigate market-reported quality issues, including customer complaints, returns, and warranty claims
  • Perform root cause analysis using structured problem-solving tools (5 Whys, Fishbone, DMAIC)
  • Support corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) to address in-field quality issues
  • Coordinate failure analysis and communicate findings to cross-functional teams
  • Verify effectiveness of corrective actions, update quality documentation, and ensure updated SOPs are actively being followed by operators.
Production & Supplier Quality Support
  • Perform incoming, in-process, and final inspections

  • Assist with calibration and maintenance of inspection and test equipment

Education and Experience Requirements

Required Qualifications
  • Associate degree or technical certification in Quality, Engineering Technology, Manufacturing, or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum 5+ years of highly autonomous quality technician experience in a manufacturing or lab environment.
  • Proven ability to perform independent physical teardowns, reverse-engineering, or failure reproduction testing to support New Product Development and CAPAs.
  • Experience utilizing oscilloscopes, digital multimeters, soldering equipment, and proprietary test software to extract and synthesize data
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to read complex mechanical drawings, GD&T, and inspection methods.
  • High relational acumen with the ability to communicate effectively across production and engineering to facilitate root cause analysis.
  • Experience utilizing advanced electronic lab equipment (such as oscilloscopes and DVMs), component-level soldering skills, and test fixtures to extract and synthesize raw data.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Direct experience with electronics, sensor systems, or precision measurement and control products.
  • Strong familiarity operating within strict ISO 9001 quality systems and participating in external audits.

Skills and Abilities
  • Exceptional relational acumen: to conduct defect discovery with shop-floor operators without triggering defensiveness or assigning blame.
  • Data Synthesis: Advanced computer skills and proficiency in Excel (charting, data organization) to rapidly translate massive raw test datasets into clean, actionable summaries for the Quality Engineers.
  • Technical Translation: The ability to fluidly translate complex engineering requirements into practical, physical testing setups in the lab.
  • High-Stress Autonomy: The ability to autonomously triage and prioritize competing urgent demands (e.g., an immediate line-down issue vs. a customer complaint test) without constant managerial direction.
  • Agile Problem Solving: A high degree of adaptability-the ability to pivot testing methodologies instantly when initial assumptions or test fixtures fail.
