Business Analyst
Location: Phoenix, AZ (1 day a week onsite required)

We are seeking an experienced Business Analyst to support product delivery efforts within the utilities industry. This role will work closely with the Product Owner and business stakeholders to capture, refine, and translate business requirements into well-structured, actionable user stories. The ideal candidate brings strong domain experience, exceptional organization, and the ability to quickly build trusted relationships through consistent, high-quality delivery.
What You'll Do
- Build, organize, and maintain a highly structured product backlog in Azure DevOps (ADO)
- Perform initial backlog cleanup and lead ongoing grooming to ensure clarity, consistency, and usability
- Write high-quality user stories using industry best practices, including:
- Clear and concise descriptions
- Appropriate metadata (priority, tags, dependencies, etc.)
- Well-defined acceptance criteria that meet INVEST standards
- Partner closely with the Product Owner to capture, clarify, and refine business needs
- Elicit and document requirements from diverse business stakeholders, ensuring alignment between business goals and delivered solutions
- Rapidly learn and deeply understand complex business processes and solution requirements, particularly within the utilities domain
- Support backlog refinement sessions, sprint planning, and ongoing delivery activities by ensuring stories are "ready" for development
What You'll Bring
- Proven experience functioning as a Business Analyst on agile delivery teams
- Utilities industry experience is highly preferred
- Hands-on experience working with Azure DevOps (ADO), particularly backlog and work item management
- Strong understanding of Agile / Scrum methodologies and user story best practices
- Demonstrated ability to write clear, testable user stories with effective acceptance criteria
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships, especially with Product Owners and business partners

Slalom is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. For this role, the targeted hourly pay range is $45/HR to $55/HR. Actual compensation will depend upon an individual's skills, experience, qualifications, location, and other relevant factors. The salary pay range is subject to change and may be modified at any time.
