Job Description

Technical Project Manager - Financial Services

Location: New York City, NY | Hybrid, approximately 1 day onsite per week
Schedule: Must be available beginning around 8:00 AM ET to support global teams

Overview

We are seeking an experienced Technical Project Manager to lead a complex, fast-moving technology initiative within a global financial services environment. This role requires someone who goes beyond traditional project tracking and status reporting to actively drive execution, remove obstacles, manage risk, and keep cross-functional teams moving toward delivery.

The ideal candidate combines strong project management fundamentals with technical curiosity, a bias for action, and the confidence to challenge stakeholders when needed. You should be equally comfortable developing a detailed execution plan, coordinating globally distributed teams, navigating technical ambiguity, and leveraging AI and data to improve program reporting.

Responsibilities

  • Translate high-level objectives and roadmaps into detailed, executable project plans with clear milestones, dependencies, owners, and deliverables.
  • Proactively drive work forward across multiple technical and business stakeholder groups rather than simply tracking and reporting status.
  • Identify risks, issues, and dependencies early and actively coordinate mitigation and resolution.
  • Hold stakeholders accountable for decisions and deliverables while maintaining a collaborative, relationship-oriented approach.
  • Coordinate delivery across globally distributed teams in the US, UK, and India.
  • Partner effectively with engineering, DevOps, DevSecOps, security, and business stakeholders.
  • Navigate technical ambiguity and make progress where processes, requirements, or systems are still evolving.
  • Use AI tools, prompting, program data, dashboards, and reporting capabilities to improve project visibility and decision-making.
  • Develop clear communications for technical teams, business stakeholders, and leadership.
  • Balance speed of execution with appropriate risk management in an environment where changes can have downstream technology impacts.

Required Qualifications
  • Strong project or program management experience within financial services or similarly complex enterprise environments.
  • Demonstrated success owning delivery of complex technology initiatives from planning through execution.
  • Ability to independently determine next steps, drive action, resolve blockers, and maintain delivery momentum.
  • Strong stakeholder-management skills with the confidence to challenge, influence, and drive accountability across teams.
  • Experience working directly with technical teams and sufficient technical fluency to understand engineering dependencies, risks, and delivery considerations.
  • Familiarity with DevOps, DevSecOps, cybersecurity, vulnerability management, cloud, or related technology environments.
  • Experience managing project risks, dependencies, milestones, communications, and cross-functional delivery.
  • Comfort using Generative AI tools and prompting as part of day-to-day work.
  • Ability to work with project/program data to support dashboards, reporting, and decision-making.
  • Experience coordinating teams across multiple geographies and time zones.
  • Ability to begin the core working day around 8:00 AM ET.
  • Ability to work onsite in New York City approximately one day per week.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience managing cybersecurity, vulnerability remediation, DevSecOps, or AI-enabled technology initiatives.
  • Experience within a large global financial institution.
  • Experience using AI-enabled tools for program management, reporting, analytics, or dashboarding.
  • Consulting experience supporting complex enterprise technology programs.
  • PMP, Agile, Scrum, SAFe, or related certification.
