The Role
We are looking for a Solution Architect to own the technical direction of one of our Salesforce platform domains. We operate multiple Salesforce ecosystems, each with its own complexity:
Digital Commerce (B2C): Salesforce Commerce Cloud powers our consumer storefront and mobile app, integrated with Order Management, payment processing, subscription management, customer identity, and ERP. A single checkout touches SFCC controllers, payment capture, OMS routing, warehouse fulfillment, and product subscription logic. The mobile app adds another dimension: headless APIs serving native experiences alongside the traditional storefront, with different session models and performance expectations, while keeping business logic consistent between them.

Consumer Goods Cloud (B2B): Our field sales and trade promotion platform runs on Salesforce Consumer Goods Cloud with Trade Promotion Management. Field reps work offline on mobile devices, syncing complex visit schedules, retail execution data, and pricing models back to a platform that integrates with SAP and middleware. The challenges here are different but equally deep: data volume, offline-first architecture, governor limits, and a mobile sync layer where timing and reliability are everything.

Your specific domain assignment will depend on your background and strengths. What both domains share is the thing that makes this role interesting: these are not standalone applications. They are multi-system orchestrations where a single business process can span five or six platforms. When something breaks, the root cause could be in any of them. We need architects who want to understand how all the pieces connect, not just the piece in front of them.

You will sit between our Product Owners and our engineering teams, ensuring that business intent is technically sound before code starts. You will own the technical backlog across sprints, participate in sprint ceremonies, and shape how your platform evolves. You are here to build a sustainable system alongside the teams that deliver it.

What You Will Do
Assess the technical feasibility of proposed features before they reach the engineering backlog. You validate technical constraints around platform configuration, API contracts, and cross-system data dependencies so the team is never surprised mid-sprint.

Translate high-level business requirements into detailed technical specifications that engineering teams can execute on efficiently. You are the bridge between what the business needs and how it should be built.

Own the technical roadmap for your domain, ensuring that platform health, performance, and security initiatives are prioritized alongside business features. Non-functional requirements are not afterthoughts. They are the foundation of platforms that process real revenue and support real field operations every day.

Get hands-on in sandboxes to run rapid Proofs of Concept for complex problems. Whether that's API contract design, session bridging patterns, custom pricing logic, or offline sync behavior, you experiment and validate before the team commits engineering resources.

Proactively identify technical debt in legacy configurations, custom code, and integration layers. You create plans to resolve it and advocate for platform health within the roadmap.

Spend time with Product Owners, business stakeholders, and the teams that use your platform daily. Understand how they work, what data they need, and what their goals look like quarter to quarter. The best solutions come from architects who understand the business context behind the features they design, not just the code that implements them.

How You Work
You lead through influence, not authority. Some of our development teams are highly autonomous and need broad architectural direction. Others benefit from more detailed guidance. You read the room and calibrate, knowing when to step in and enforce standards to protect the platform, and when to step back and let the engineering team own an approach.

You bring genuine technical depth. You can open a sandbox and prototype a solution. You can trace a failure across multiple systems and explain where the handoff broke. You can tell a business stakeholder why their "simple" change requires careful consideration of how it interacts with other systems, and propose an alternative that delivers the value without the risk.

You work with modern tools and build efficient workflows. You are curious about how to use AI and automation to accelerate your own work, from research and analysis to documentation and specification writing. You believe that working smarter is as important as working harder.

What You Bring
4+ years of experience in solution architecture, technical consulting, or hands-on development within the Salesforce ecosystem or comparable enterprise platforms. Deep expertise in any Salesforce cloud is valued (Commerce Cloud, Consumer Goods Cloud, Service Cloud, Sales Cloud), but what matters most is integration architecture depth: the ability to understand how a platform connects to the systems around it.

A development background. You have written code professionally. Not because you will write production code in this role, but because that foundation gives you the judgment to evaluate solutions, run meaningful POCs, and communicate credibly with engineering teams.

Understanding of how enterprise platforms connect to backend systems: order management, payment processing, ERP, middleware, customer identity, or subscription platforms. You can explain what happens when a business process crosses system boundaries and where the risk points are in that chain.

Experience with multi-system integration patterns. Whether that's REST APIs for headless commerce, offline data synchronization for mobile field apps, or middleware orchestration between Salesforce and ERP, you understand the architectural decisions that come with keeping multiple systems in sync.

The ability to explain complex technical constraints (like why a change requires coordination across three systems and two release cycles) to non-technical stakeholders in a way that connects to business outcomes.

The starting budgeted pay range for this role will generally fall between $140,000.00 - $164,700.00 per year. Scotts will consider various factors in determining the actual pay including your skills, qualifications, experience, and geographical location.In addition to the determined base salary, this role is also incentive eligible under our corporate bonus programs.For remote roles where the final candidate resides in Alaska, California, Colorado, Illinois, New York, Oregon or Washington, state required pay thresholds will be factored into base salary.
