As a Stop Loss Intern, you will have the opportunity to support the Stop Loss Center of Excellence for Marsh McLennan Agency. This internship is designed to provide you with hands-on experience in financial analysis and risk management within the insurance industry.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include, but are not limited, to the following:
- Support stop loss financial, and risk analysis activities by gathering data and preparing preliminary reports for internal teams and consulting clients
- Help with the stop loss marketing process by assisting in data acquisition, preparing materials for requests for proposals (RFPs), and responding to vendor questions under supervision
- Support the entry, review, and validation of proposals and related documents into Stop Loss COE templates for accuracy
- Collaborate with MMA Agency contacts to assist with the Stop Loss intake process and help share basic information about self-funding, stop loss, and captives as appropriate
- Help review renewal results as requested by local MMA Agency teams; negotiate with carriers under supervision
- Assist in the Stop Loss claims tracking process by gathering and organizing claims data; support entry and review of claims information into client reporting with accuracy
- Review stop loss policies for accuracy and assist with sold case processing
- Maintain organized records and support quality service standards to ensure timely assistance to MMA Agency teams
- Provide support for other projects and initiatives within the Stop Loss COE, Strategic Initiatives Division, and MMA East Underwriting Team as needed
- Demonstrate initiative and problem-solving skills in handling special projects as assigned
- Participate in team and company meetings, including professional development sessions
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: - Working towards a Bachelor's Degree in Risk Management & Insurance, Actuarial Science, Mathematics and/or other related field is preferred;
- Prior relevant internship experience in the Benefits Brokerage, Consulting, or Insurance industry is preferred;
- Working knowledge of MS Excel is required (ability to use pivot tables, intermediate formulas, lookups);
- Effective analytical, math and problem-solving skills, sound judgment, strong decision making ability, confidence to make difficult decisions and excellent communication skills;

- Aptitude for learning internal systems, applications and internal workflow of the department;
- Must be able to effectively interact and deal with people at all levels inside and outside of the company.

WORK LOCATION - Work is typically performed on site at MMA East's Conshohocken, PA office.
The applicable hourly rate for this role is $25.
