Job Summary
The Tool Room Clerk is responsible for managing and maintaining all tooling, spare parts, and inventory within the tool room to support production and maintenance operations. This role ensures accurate inventory control, timely availability of tools and materials, coordination of repair work orders, and alignment of preventive maintenance (PM) activities with production schedules. The position plays a critical role in minimizing downtime and supporting safe, efficient plant operations.
Reporting directly to the Plant Maintenance Supervisor, this role works closely with all levels of management and employees to support operational excellence while actively promoting and reinforcing Leviat's safety culture. The position requires strong organization, communication skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a hands-on manufacturing environment.
Job Responsibilities
- Maintain accurate records of all tools, dies, fixtures, gauges, spare parts, and consumables in the plant (tool room, production departments, and Tool & Die areas)
- Issue, receive, track tools and equipment to production and maintenance personnel
- Monitor inventory levels, identify shortages, and initiate replenishment requests
- Maintain organization, cleanliness, and 5S standards within the tool room
- Provide timely support to production and maintenance teams by ensuring tools and parts are available when needed
- Coordinate tool availability to support production schedules and changeovers
- Communicating tooling constraints or inventory issues that may impact production
- Create, track, and close work orders for tool, die, and equipment repairs
- Coordinate with internal maintenance teams and external vendors for repairs, calibration, and refurbishment
- Maintain records of repair history, costs, and turnaround times
- Support the planning and scheduling of preventative maintenance (PM) activities for tools, dies, and equipment
- Coordinate PM schedules to minimize impact on production demands
- Track PM completion and ensure required documentation is updated
- Perform other duties as assigned to support overall plant operations
Job Requirements - High school diploma or GED required
- 2+ years of experience in a tool room, manufacturing, warehouse, or maintenance support role preferred
- Basic knowledge of manufacturing tools, dies, fixtures, or maintenance parts
- Experience using inventory management systems, CMMS, or ERP software preferred
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to read work orders, part numbers, and basic technical documentation
- Basic computer skills (Microsoft Excel, email, inventory systems)
- Capability to lift items weighing up to 40 lbs.
- Capability to stand or walk for extended periods, up to 8 hours
- This position may require various physical activities, including but not limited to walking, standing, bending, stretching, and using hands and fingers to grasp, push, and lift items
Compensation - The hourly pay rate is $19-20/hr
