About the Position

We are searching for a motivated Transportation Engineer to join our dynamic Traffic Engineering/Transportation Group at our Peachtree Corners, GA or Cobb County, GA office. In this role, you will take on exciting engineering assignments while collaborating with a diverse team of professionals with varying backgrounds and expertise. Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, are essential to thrive in this fast-paced environment. Our Traffic Engineering team in Peachtree Corners is engaged in a wide array of projects from analysis to signal design. However, our interest in this candidate would be roadway design related tasks including trail and sidewalk, intersection improvements, etc. to assist with those projects within our group and/or our Transportation Roadway group.

About Our Team

Our team of civil engineering professionals includes transportation design engineers, traffic engineers, and planners. Our transportation team is engaged in projects throughout the southeast, and our existing client base includes state transportation agencies such as the Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) and Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT), as well as various county and local municipalities. The successful candidate would be an integral part of our growing team and would have the opportunity to engage across markets and geographies.

Knowledge and Experience:

  • Experience and Knowledge using GDOT Publications.
  • EIT certification preferred.
  • Passing of PE exam is a bonus (even if candidate is still waiting for licensure approval due to experience).

Qualifications:
  • BS in an accredited Civil Engineering program.
  • 1 - 3 years of experience.
  • Proficient with relevant software such as Microstation, OpenRoads, Microsoft Office applications, particularly Word and Excel.
  • Knowledge of the practical application of engineering principles, practices and techniques, including AASHTO guidelines, Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD), GDOT Publications such as Design Policy Manual, GDOT EDG, and GDOT PPG.
  • Ability to demonstrate strong attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated depth and breadth of knowledge in roadway design, including a focus in roadway design with an understanding of signing and marking, utility coordination, ES&PC (erosion control), drainage analysis and design, safety analysis and design, etc.
  • Ability to work well within a team environment, positive attitude, multi-task, and self-motivated to produce high quality work.
  • Ability and desire to learn and grow professionally.
  • Ability to demonstrate strong organizational, project, and time management skills.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Performs accurate, legible and well thought out design calculations.
  • Performs self QC before submitting for review.
  • Works with minimal supervision; is self-motivated and has initiative.
  • May be required to work after typical hours as project requirements and company needs dictate.
  • Updates and maintains body of knowledge related to training, degree or job responsibilities.
  • Completes assigned work on time and within budget.
  • Utilize knowledge of GDOT, municipal design standards and criteria, and practices and policies.
