Job Description
The Department of Art at Wellesley College invites applications for a 2026-27 60% FTE (part-time, benefits eligible) position as Visiting Assistant Teaching Professor in Studio Art. We seek a visual artist with an active studio practice centered in Drawing and Printmaking, with demonstrated expertise in expanded print methods.

The successful candidate will teach a section of Introductory Drawing both semesters and an intermediate level course addressing Alternative Print Methods in the spring. In addition to class meeting times, the candidate will hold regular office hours in person and promptly respond to student inquiries throughout the semester. Department facilities are safely equipped to support a wide range of traditional and experimental print practices, from lithography, etching, relief, screenprint, papermaking, and artist books, to digital print methods and laser-engraving. The Studio Art curriculum at Wellesley supports majors in Studio art, Architecture, Media Arts & Sciences, Cinema and Media Studies, and Art History, and fosters a close relationship with Book Studies as well as other interdisciplinary programs.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Candidates should have a clearly established commitment to undergraduate teaching and a strong interest in the collaborative potential of a liberal arts education.
  • MFA or equivalent terminal degree in art or a relevant field is required.
  • College level teaching beyond graduate school is preferred.

  • Term of Appointment: 2026-27, non-renewable

  • Minimum Salary: $45,177
