The Warehouse Operations Planner drives fast, efficient order fulfillment by coordinating and releasing work waves to the warehouse floor. This role prioritizes and publishes orders based on urgency, labor availability, inventory, and shipping deadlines to maximize performance and service quality. Using data, systems, and real-time insights, the Wave Planner monitors workflow, solves problems quickly, and collaborates across teams to keep operations running smoothly.
This role is ideal for an experienced professional who thrives in a startup-like environment and is excited to support our new distribution facility in Northwest Indiana. Our 400,000 square foot facility uses state-of-the art technology while minimizing our carbon footprint and serves as one of our global shipping hubs responsible for meeting the demand of our customers internationally. You'll play a key role in building, refining, and optimizing processes to create a highly efficient, scalable operation.
What You Will Do

Wave Planning & Execution:
- Develop and release optimized picking waves based on order priority, SLAs, labor, and shipping deadlines.
- Continuously monitor and adjust waves in the WMS to keep pick, pack, and ship operations running efficiently.
- Coordinate closely with supervisors to align staffing, equipment, and replenishment tasks with daily plans.

Systems & Performance Monitoring:
- Track wave performance, throughput, and accuracy using WMS, WES, and WCS systems.
- Identify inefficiencies, troubleshoot issues (including OTM order releases and conveyor performance), and provide actionable insights to improve flow.

Cross-Functional Coordination:
- Serve as the central link between planning, operations, inventory control, and shipping.
- Proactively communicate priorities, resolve short picks and inventory discrepancies, and ensure high-priority orders stay on track.

Transportation & Shipment Planning:
- Plan and execute daily shipment waves in OTM to maximize consolidation and efficiency.
- Coordinate trailer movements with the yard jockey and assign dock doors to support smooth outbound operations.

Order Exception & Backorder Management:
- Quickly resolve order conflicts that delay shipment, including missing picks or system holds.
- Initiate back orders as needed to keep orders moving and minimize disruption to fulfillment timelines.

Continuous Improvement:
- Monitor real-time KPIs, identify trends, and drive process enhancements.
- Participate in root cause analysis to eliminate recurring issues and improve service performance.
What You Will Bring

Education: Bachelor's degree in supply chain, operations, or business required, or relevant equivalent experience in lieu of degree.

Experience: 2+ years' experience in operations planning, warehousing, and logistics.

Systems: Experience with WMS like Manhattan, SAP, or Oracle. Experience with TMS like Oracle, or 3G. Experience with ERP like Oracle, Sage, or SAP.

Knowledge: Understanding of warehouse operations (picking, packing, inventory, shipping) and tech savviness.

Skills: Strong organization, attention to detail, and time management skills.

Compensation: The expected annual base salary range for this role is $50,000- $62,000. Please note the salary information shown above is a general guideline only. Salaries are based upon candidate skills, experience, qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.
