POSITION SUMMARY: The Office of Student Recruitment (herein referred to as the Office) provides recruitment services to all prospective students seeking a legal education at the University of Miami School of Law. The College Recruiter/Assistant Director assists as needed with recruitment programs and activities. He/she is included in analytical assessments of enrollment goals and management. The Office participates in approximately 85 off-site recruitment programs on an annual basis as well as numerous on-campus events. Each year hundreds of prospective students visit the campus on an individual basis to receive tours, visit classes, and meet with an advisor for information and advice on applying to the School. The College Recruiter/Assistant Director must become knowledgeable about the many programs of Miami Law and be well versed in these programs and advocating the merits of the institution and city. He/she must be able to handle confidential and sensitive situations and act in a professional manner at all times.
The Office is responsible for a wide array of electronic communication and e-mail campaigns directed toward prospective and admitted students. This Office is also responsible for oversight of web site content as it relates to admissions in particular and marketing in general. The Office participates in chat rooms, message boards, online networking projects, and all aspects of social media.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Responsible for planning of and training for Law Student Ambassador Program which involves constant oversight and communication. Works with Ambassador Committees for special projects and initiatives. Recommends Law Ambassadors/students for panels and local recruitment efforts.
- Primary responsibility for online chats, and social media initiatives. Strategizes with director and Assistant Director on creative marketing strategies, including creative uses for Skype or Adobe sessions.
- Collaborates on Adobe sessions between members of the Miami Law community (current law students, faculty, administrators, alumni) and prospective law students and pre-law organizations.
- Responsible for maintaining admitted student website and Facebook pages.
- Spearheads efforts to be ahead of the competition on use of video clips and specialized messaging which highlights Miami Law's strengths, (e.g., our location, specific strengths/programs, why Miami) for YouTube, Instagram, etc.
- With oversight of the Assistant Director, responsible for updating and improving the Apartment & Relocation Guide and Roommate Referral Service.
- Keeps current with external social media sites which might impact or influence recruitment efforts, e.g., blogs, law related websites, and other law school sites. Strategizes with the director on creative electronic media campaigns to maximize social media and other electronic contacts to reach prospective and admitted students.
- Assists with planning, logistics and advertising for on-campus events.
- Meets with prospective students as needed for advising sessions.
- Occasional local or national travel.
- Organizes and maintains data for summary reports and annual analytics so that yearly assessments and adjustments can be made.
W&C Fellowship:
- Perform substantive research on International Arbitration and prepare research for publication. 2015-16 Research Project will be a focus on Arbitrator Bias and also UNCITRAL Model law.
- Edit and prepare content for the International Arbitration Institute's Publications (Young Scholars in International Arbitration)
- Lecturer in law for Arbitration Curriculum, Panels, and Frankfurt International Arbitration Moot Competition.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor's degree and a minimum of three years of job related experience. J.D. degree preferred. Any appropriate combination of relevant education, experience and/or certifications may be considered. Must have strong knowledge of and experience with electronic communication, social media, and marketing. Strong proficiency with ACES2 preferred. Must be willing to learn new software as required. Must be creative and proactive in seeking out ways to stay ahead of the marketing curve. Excellent oral and written communication skills required; strong public speaking skills a must. Strong interpersonal skills, professionalism and sound judgment also required. Exceptional dedication to customer service and team work.
