The starting wage for this position will be between $21 & $25. Depending on experience.
Full-Time: Monday-Friday
Night Shift: 2:00 PM-10:30 PM
The Battery Technician II is responsible for repairing and recharging electric storage batteries.
Essential Duties:
- Washing all batteries on an ongoing schedule.
- Removing and replacing battery connectors and contact tips.
- Adding water to obtain specified concentration.
- Attaching leads from charger to battery posts and starting charger.
- Makes minor repairs to battery cables.
- Maintains proper rotation of batteries.
- Operates transfer cart to change batteries in and out of equipment.
- Safely cleaning up electrolyte spills.
- Utilizes the Associate Involvement System (AIS)
- Supports level I training
- Maintains parts and supply inventory
- Performs lead casting (cable heads to cable) and installs lugs to cables
- Attaches leads from charger to battery posts and starts charger
- Reads meters and adjusts rheostat to control flow of current through battery.
- Maintains batter wash equipment
- Performs basic cell diagnosis to all types of batteries
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications: - High school diploma or GED preferred or certificate from technical school
- 1+ years related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Must be flexible and willing to work the demands of the department which may be subject to evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Must be able to frequently reach up to 31-77 inches.
Physical Demands: - Regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds
- Frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
- Regularly stand and walk
- Ability to reach and handle objects, tools, or controls
- Regularly stoop, kneel, crouch, climb, or crawl
