Department Information
The mission of the Office of Financial Aid and Scholarships is to provide resources, guidance, and financial assistance for students pursuing educational goals while complying with federal, state, and university regulations and guidelines.
Job Summary
Department-Specific Responsibilities
- Prepares, reviews, sorts, prints, and distributes financial aid award notifications and missing information letters.
- Assists with federal work-study processing, including posting positions and completing related documentation.
- Provides basic procedural guidance regarding dependency overrides, suspension, and reinstatement processes; refers complex situations to appropriate staff.
- Applies established federal, state, and institutional policies and procedures to routine student situations.
- Uploads and monitors documents in OnBase and other electronic document systems.
- Orders and maintains general office supplies.
- Coordinates printing of office forms.
General Responsibilities
- Serves as an information resource to students, potential students, and their families; explains the policies and procedures involved in applying for financial aid and/or scholarships.
- Processes and monitors files for applications and awards; updates as necessary for accuracy and completeness; ensures compliance with state and federal regulations.
- Responds to email, phone, and in-person inquiries from applicants regarding status of application; notifies applicant of final decision.
- Monitors financial aid and/or scholarship accounts on a continuing basis; ensures compliance with scholarship requirements.
- Provides administrative and clerical support to department staff including word processing and scheduling.
- Develops and updates written informational materials regarding the policies and procedures involving in applying for financial aid and/or scholarships.
QualificationsEDUCATION
Required- High school diploma or equivalent (such as HSED or GED).
PreferredWORK EXPERIENCE
Preferred- Experience working in a financial aid or student services environment.

- Proficient written and verbal communication skills.

- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, for reporting and data tracking.
- Ability to follow and apply established federal, state, and institutional policies and procedures to routine situations.
- Ability to work across multiple systems while maintaining accuracy, organization, and attention to detail.
Working Conditions / DemandsThis role requires the ability to effectively communicate and to operate a computer and other standard office productivity equipment. The position involves sedentary work as well as periods of time moving around an office environment and the campus. The person in this role must be able to perform the essential functions with or without an accommodation.
