The Exeter Job Corps Academy is looking for a summer intern to work with our Career Counselors and Residential staff. You will help provide students ages 16-24 with a safe, clean, and structured living environment that fosters student retention, satisfaction, achievement, and success in the Job Corps program.

WHAT IS EXETER JOB CORPS ACADEMY?
We support the Job Corps program's mission to teach eligible young people the skills they need to become employable and independent and place them in meaningful jobs or further education. Our center specializes in Culinary Arts, Welding, Electronics Engineering, and Certified Medical Assistant training.
EMPLOYMENT AT EXETER JOB CORPS
Employment at Exeter Job Corps is contingent upon successful completion of a criminal background check, employment verification, education verification, professional reference check and motor vehicle record check.
POSITION SUMMARY
Responsible for providing proper guidance to students to ensure positive group living relations and achievement in the Job Corps program.
WORK HOURS
Monday-Friday, 1pm-6pm (1:00pm-3:30pm with Career Counselors / 3:30pm-6:00pm with dorm and recreation staff)
RATE OF PAY
$20.19 per hour
RESPONSIBILITIES
o Provide guidance for students to achieve a positive attitude and proper behavior in training classrooms and the dormitory which will assist them in accomplishing their goals and objectives.
o Determine, recommend, and arrange student visits to counselor.
o Assist in unit activities
o Help prepare the daily operations report, pass list, and other administrative correspondence relating to students.
o Direct students and assist in the cleanup and maintenance of the dormitory.
o Enter student case notes in the center information system.
o Participate in career development services system by ensuring a safe living environment and creating positive peer leadership role modeling techniques within the dorm.
o Provide guidance, counseling, group sessions and independent living skills.
o Provide positive, quality customer services to students, staff and other center customers.
o Support, promote, and enforce the Job Corps' Zero Tolerance Policy.
o Promote the development of career success standards by modeling appropriate behaviors, mentoring students where necessary and monitoring both positive and negative behaviors through interventions.
o Other duties as assigned.
