  • Compile personnel assignment schedules for production department in manufacturing plant. Plan and prepare schedules.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Responsible for complying with customer service and quality standards.
  • Study production schedules and staffing tables to ascertain personnel requirements.
  • Draw up master schedule to establish sequence and lead time of each operation to meet shipping dates according to sales forecast or customer orders.
  • Determine and record work assignments according to worker availability, seniority, job classification and preference.
  • Compile and oversee in-plant distribution of work schedule.
  • Adjust schedules to meet needs of emergencies caused by extended leave or increased production demands.
  • Compile annual seniority list on which employees indicate vacation preferences. Approve leave requests to prevent production losses.
  • Plan and schedule workflow for each department and operation according to previously established manufacturing sequences and lead times.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions, percentages, etc.
  • Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in oral, written, diagram or schedule form.
  • Confer with department supervisors, leads, and production scheduler to determine the status of assigned projects.
  • Expedite operations that delay schedules and alter schedules to meet unforeseen conditions.
  • Prepare production reports.
  • File all information.
  • Follow Good Manufacturing Practices (G.M.P.s) at all times.
  • Verbally communicate instructions/problems, etc. to co-workers, supervisors, and employees from all departments.
  • Meet company attendance standards of start and end time for work as scheduled.
  • Comply with all safety, health and environmental regulations as prescribed by law and company policies.
  • Comply with company rules, regulations and policies.
  • May perform other functions as assigned.
PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Reaching with hands/arms throughout shift.
  • Ability to use hands and fingers.
  • Ability to see, hear and talk.
  • Employee frequently required to sit.
  • Occasionally required to walk, climb and/or balance.
  • Ability to lift and/or carry up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to work in light to moderate noise levels; hearing protection may be required.
  • May have to walk up to 400 yards to work and break area(s).
  • Communicate in English to give and/or acknowledge instructions or problems.
  • Physical and mental ability to work in excess of 40 hours per week.
  • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts.
  • Ability to apply basic concepts of algebra.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to respond well to common inquiries/complaints from employees.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
  • Ability to work well with others under extreme situations and meet deadlines as necessary.
  • Excellent keyboarding and recordkeeping skills and follow-up on details.
  • May occasionally work near moving mechanical parts and may be exposed to fumes or airborne particles and vibration.
  • Receptive to new ideas, concepts and procedures.
  • Receptive and responsive to constructive criticism.

WORKING RELATIONSHIPS:

  • Maintain harmonious working relations with employees from all departments.
  • Maintain harmonious working relations with management from all levels.
  • Communicate effectively with all employees and management.

EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:

  • High School Diploma or G.E.D preferred.
  • One year certificate from college or technical school; or three to six months related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Basic computer knowledge.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and at times independently.
  • Must be accurate and detail oriented.
  • Data entry skills.
  • Basic to mid-level math and reading skills.
